I was given a 3 day suspension. Site wide. I appealed it and it became a perma ban =/

To be fair since the mod was on Reddit, not GFAQs, I assume you actually can post the full context here to prove your case.

reddit perma bans anyone with an opinion that goes against the echo chamber. those sensitive ass mods are a bunch of bitches.

check out the unsubbed sub-reddit. youll get a good view of how mods run roughshod over reddit.

i was banned from the r/3DS sub-reddit for saying someones 3DS collection was worth a lot. I guess it went against the grain.

Three days later-7 day suspension. I foolishly appealed-perma ban 5 minutes after my appeal.

That makes sense then.

Resdit probably forbids a certain level of insults, regardless of context. And likely also forbids appealing suspensions that aren't actually controversial.

Sucks but most forums have some concrete rules to keep things clean. Reddit's sitewide moderation is still mostly more lax than GFAQs' is; it's the subreddits that go overboard.

From Reddit as a whole. I've had my account for 9 years and never been banned from any subreddit.

No? I mean a perma-ban from the site vs having people harass me and say I have autism or Vaccine is killing people. I mean as I told during my appeal some measure of punishment was just but, considering my history this was way too harsh.

Are you surprised? Reddit is hostile to anyone not white cis-male. if enough people report you then it can quickly become a site ban. I was a former mod. They will ban you forever from reddit for the slightest things. Appealing does nothing. it was likely they made an error and it was meant to be permanent.

Also, reddit IP tracks so if anyone else connected to your IP and did something, RIP. My friend was perma banned for connecting to a friends wifi. Friend was perma banned from a subreddit. Reddit counted that as ban evasion and turned that into a site wide perma ban.

But, Reddit bans are pathetically easy to bypass.

Reddit told me a guy I reported multiple times for very racist things was perma-banned. He was unsuspended a week later.

Those lines up with my experiences too. I personally had someone dox me and harass me. I reported them and it was me who was banned 3 days for harassment. He is still around.

Nowadays, I'm hesitant to use reddit. it's terrible for most things.

Why do you think that a mere three day suspension for telling somebody to kill themselves is too harsh?

Yeah, uh... Telling somebody to kill themself is one of the most "fair, next" ban reasons there is.

Why make a topic here?

I considered reporting someone for attempting 4 times to make a topic asking if it's okay to imprison and rape a burglar, but since reddit simply deleted the topics they should know about it.

One time I got vastly downvoted for saying Taylor Swift is a QT

Reddit also has a thing where you sometimes get auto-suspended for 3-7 days if you report posts too often. Even if they are all violations.

It sounds excessive but the initial baj was warranted

They were right to ban you for this, although I do wish they'd also ban the people spreading medical misinfo and who harass people over vaccines.

The whole point in punishing people for telling others to kill themselves is to prevent them from saying this to a vulnerable person who might actually do it.... the same logic should extend to those who cause harm by aggressively promoting anti-vax rhetoric.

Maybe I'm cynical, but the real reason they ban people for stuff like this is to prevent Reddit from being held liable.

I'm perma-banned from Reddit but I absolutely had it coming.

Too bad...I really want to get banned from the GameFAQs sub.

Its not hard to follow the rules and stay out of trouble.

I've gotten a reply back each time I reported it saying they took action on the account. I specifically stated that nothing I've recently posted can be interpreted in anyway as a discussion implying I am looking to do self harm.
