Well if it's successful enough to get a sequel it must have been pretty good? And if it gets two sequels then it must be even better?? Or just popular.

On paper, a series of sequels should mean that the creators can take what worked about a work and expand on it while sanding off the things that didn't. A more refined version of a thing that we like should be great.
