Like, at least $10 million or even $100 million.

I feel like I wouldn't. At least, not right away.

Probably not right away cause I like my job. But first time I got pissed off with my job I'd probably quit as a knee jerk reaction knowing I didn't need the job

I would absolutely quit. Then I'd find something that I actually enjoy doing to fill a good portion of that time. I would want to keep actove so I don't end up sedentary and fat.

If it's going to be enough to retire in, absolutely. I mean, I'd stick around until they hired my replacement and they were trained up enough, but other then that in gone.

Even if I wasn't going to relocate (I would), you better believe I'd quit. The place I work has been cool with me, so I'd do them the solid of a proper two week notice.

Yes, but Im only about 10 years from retiring anyway. I have no debt, own my home, own my vehicle. My only bills are required monthly bills. I live very cheaply.

At this point Im just stockpiling money and basically working for the insurance coverage. My life wouldnt change much with a lottery win other than quitting my job.

This.

But I would want to work less hours than today and choose to work only specific projects. Like "You can have me for a 40% workload but I only do this and that, end of story."

Wish I could do that. Most I could do is bargain what post/assignment I work.

Had a dude do that once cause he had hit his retirement age (or well partial retirement but he had partial retirement from another job too) and told them he'd stay as long as he worked the segregation unit everyday. Which is like the easiest post to work.

I dont know. $10 million, I want to say probably not. Id get my parents house fixed up, get their deck rebuilt, buy a house and furnish it, get both houses wired for Ethernet, get new NASes, buy my dream smokers / grills, buy new vehicles for my parents, myself, and my best friend, max out my 401K and Roth IRA contributions for the year, and invest the rest. That would take a good chunk of it, along with the taxes Id owe on it. I could still retire comfortably, but I like what I do well enough Id probably continue doing it for a while. I would however definitely give my company the ultimatum that if they tried to make me go back to the office any time besides rare occasions when a Senator is there or something and they want the building to look full, that I would be gone.

If I won $100 million, yeah Id probably retire early.

No.

Would I reduce my hours? Probably, maybe drop from 38 to 33 hours. But quit entirely? Fuck no. You'd get bored and burn through that money so quickly.

Edit: I see it as 5 years of a mansion and supercars, then back to square one. Or you could just upgrade to a smaller mansion and one supercar, keep working, and life is set forever.

I wouldn't before in the more distant past as I'd like to "pretend" still to contribute something to society, but now freaking forget everything. Just pay the monthly bills and live like a hermit mostly. No need to live way above means or buy expensive stuff a person doesn't need.Tell most people to go away if they came begging for money (found out I won) or at least it'll be a sort of, Akiyama (Yakuza 4/5) system where I'd lend you the money on no interest if you can pass my test. Maybe not even want the money back depending on the kind of mood I was in.

In an instant. Even just 10 million would be netting you 500k in interest every year. After taxes that's still about 300k and I could literally be traveling/on vacation 24/7 with that much dough

Hell yes I'd quit my job.

If the amount was high enough I'd drop enough in a low-risk, low-yield return to live off the interest, then I'd be doing what I wanted to do, i.e "not working".

But you wouldnt invest every penny, or even in one return. Drawing or pulling invites taxes as well. And if youre spending $300k per year today, that amount will increase with inflation to keep up standard of living.

Frankly bucket list when you have infinite money and time don't take long to complete at all tbh. And its just a matter of time before I do everything and get bored with life.

Maybe I would join a similar job with less responsibility with part time around 20 hours a week, just to prevent that I degenerate to the most lazy fuck on earth.

But that would happen after I enjoyed some nice time out.

I wouldn't want to be an asshole to my co-workers so I'd do a bit of notice, but yeah I'd be out of there.

I don't think I'd change my lifestyle outside of work too much apart from traveling more and outsourcing maintenance. I don't see the point of how a lot of people spend mega wealth. I'd go for a decent house (5 bed at most), maybe a luxury car, and probably hire housekeeping and landscaping to cut down on annoying chores.

I don't think I'd have much of a problem occupying myself, but if I got so bored I had to do something, I'd probably find volunteer work.
