I cant comment specifically to that movie but one of my favorite movies The Wanderers from 1979 has a pretty weak mono track. Even a lot of my favorite westerns from the 60s and even back into the 50s seem to have better mixed audio.
I havent picked up the blu-ray they put out a few years ago of it but Im not expecting miracles as even that is just a 2.0 channel track.
