The biggest issue is that the ending was rushed. Those various plot points work fine if they're fleshed out. The books in general are better at making characters more grey and you've already kind of seen Dany being a little harsh, so her burning down King's Landing needn't be too wild. Bran becoming the Three-Eyed Raven could just mean that he's sort of subsumed by Bloodraven's personality, so him becoming king is a 3D chess move to take control of Westeros. Even Arya killing the Night King could be improved. Like even in the show, if she'd used her face swapping to hide as one of the wights to get close to him instead of doing a NANI?! anime leap, it would have been much improved. But the Night King also isn't even in the books, at least so far, so that might just be some shit they made up. DrizztLink posted... The absolute recklessness with which they hurriedly wrapped up show-specific character arcs and storylines and wrote out people not involved in the ending just reeked (hah!) of "Oh shit, we have four episodes to get from where we are to where we're told we need to be, and we don't know how to get there!" Dumb and Dumber had a lucrative Disney deal for a Star Wars trilogy. HBO wanted to give them more seasons for GoT but those two wanted to hurry and finish for their new project. Which never happened.
