Basically Unity announced they would clarify the pricing model this guy ported his whole game, and they still haven't released these clarifications.

As I understand Unreal is great for 3D and Unity is great for 2D, but now that they shit the fan people will want to of course migrate the hell away.

His game isn't on Switch and probably won't ever be do I doubt that is a concern.

I just looked up the monogame site, why do they claim stardew valley was made on it? I was fairly certain that game was made by one guy who coded everything himself

It's not bull. Stardew started in XNA, but switched to Monogame (a fork of XNA) because Microsoft dropped support for XNA. There is no real difference between the two, as they are the exact same code.

Many big name indies use Monogame, and many used XNA (like Terraria)

he pretty much just used unity to handle the UI and player input, all of the game logic is engine agnostic
