Traveling from the US first off. Gas is the equivalent to like $7 a gallon there and the pump color you want for regular is green not black. Plus you pump first then go inside to pay in Germany. My idea to road trip around Germany is going to cost me more than I expected lol.

Germany has a fantastic rail network. Reliable, fast, and relatively cheap.

You should use that instead.

Yeah, I've heard good things about it, so unless you specifically wanna be able to control your own stops TC, that probably ain't a bad option

France and Germany are probably the best two countries in the world for train travel. The trains go everywhere, are affordable and reliable (when there isn't a strike), and they're fast and modern. It's completely different than the US where it's almost non-existent, or the UK where it's hideously expensive and antiquated.

The DB (Deutsche Bahn / German Train) is anything but reliable, really. Not even germans would call it as such. In fact, they're a daily nuisance for germans as well as for visitors. Sure, it's better than in poorer countries like Moldavia, but that doesn't mean it's good.

Fun fact: I'm in Germany right now, travelling with DB. My train is 45 minutes late - as always ^^

He will love the Swiss trains, though. They're very reliable (similar like the japanese trails). I'm Swiss and can compare the train quality of all these countries very good, since I've been in Germany a few dozens of times, in Japan three times and in Moldavia once.

Have fun in both countries, TC!

And yeah, gas is very expensive here. Distances are much shorter than in the US though, especially in Switzerland.
