I understand if some people don't want to get the vaccine for health reasons, but don't undermine the work that scientists and doctors are trying to do.

I've run into anti vaxxers here who don't believe in germ theory. Checks out.

Because he is eternally chasing clout to boost his standing on the national stage, and doing the opposite of what's recommended on Covid is an easy ticket to keep his name in the headlines in a 'there's no such thing as bad press' manner. This attitude hasn't changed one iota in the years since he first made headlines for bullying local businesses, school districts, and even the fucking Special Olympics over mask mandates.

I'm genuinely worried that this recommendation is just the next stepping stone towards attempting to ban distribution of the vaccine in Florida next year (the same year he believes he'll be going toe-to-toe with Biden for the presidency, by no small coincidence).

He's too far gone. Gotta do what you gotta do to stay in power regardless of anything.

I sometimes wonder how many of these politicians are actually batshit insane and how many are just playing the character.

Trump set a precedent and he's obviously just a full-blown delusional psychopath. But other Republicans saw him succeed and now they're just copying him and his antics.

To an extent, it's not their fault your average right-wing American is a complete moron, they're just taking advantage of it and getting easy votes.

It really wouldn't be shocking if decades from now, if the country and society in general are still around, that the Republican party actually worshiped Satan or some sort of "death god" in private and were literally a death cult that reveled in human misery and death.

Occam's Razor leaves plausibility for a shortage, of just plain stinginess.
If the reimbursement rates are better for the "medicare" crowd and the rest is on the state, that "advice" makes a lot of sense.

I haven't seen DeSantis argument in full, but as I understand it, he wants to argue that the federal government shouldn't tell people to get shots. I think he'd argue it's solely an individual decision.

His "Surgeon General" is a legit quack who believes in "traditional medicine" and doesn't like that the federal government bans most of his borderline witchdoctor shit.

All kinds of things wrong with both these views, IMO but I think that's gist of them.
