I don't really care what it is, just as long as it gives Jason Momoa more screen time

This might be an unpopular opinion, but Im fucking sick of cinematic universes. Just let films stand on their own

Marvel and DC are universes. You can't go back to the old days when each hero who shares a world in the comics, is the only hero in the world, in each movie. That was stupid and I refuse to go back

What? Why?

If I'm watching a movie about Batman I don't give a shit about what Aquaman's doing. If I'm watching a movie about Aquaman I don't give a shit about what Batman's doing.

You don't necessarily have to talk about everyone in every movie. But I just mean have ties to the rest of the world. Like in the batman movie, someone in a bar has a TV on, and its the news talking about Aquaman saving some people at sea

Still not necessary. The Burton and Nolan Batman films were better for not having all this winking at the camera stuff going on. There are some stories that just work a helluva lot better when Batman (or whichever character) is just isolated in their own world.

I think D.C. movies would be better served as their own cinematic universes, but also connected. I guess what I'm saying is using the same actors for cameo's/part of the storyline, but not going for a Justice League type of connected. The Aquaman movies, for example, would not be building up towards any sort of inter-connected storyline like how Marvel movies built up to the first Avengers and then following sequels referenced The Avengers; it would just deepen the expand of the Aquaman universe.

Which is a damn shame, because I really enjoyed the JL show on Cartoon Network.

I agree. If the writers, directors, and producers can come up with good ideas to bring heroes together in crossovers, that's fine... great! If they want to bring in the same actor that plays that character, and keep a general consistent theme... no problem I guess.

But what killed the first incarnation of the DC universe was trying to use each movie to set up the next movie instead of being it's own movie.

I think Marvel hit lightning in a bottle and had the right people covering the right licenses at the right time and audiences were ready for something new with the Avengers... but it's never reached those heights since and no one else has been able to replicate the success.
