Isn't that pretty much just another topic of "are you living in the US or not?"

Some time ago I had some troubles because of that, more specifically how an US calender counts weeks in a year, and how it is done at my place in Europe.

Sunday. It appears more balanced that way.

I wonder if MTWTFSS (as opposed to SMTWTFS) is rooted at all in religion -- what with God resting on the seventh day (Sunday) and such.

AFAIK, yes, I think monday is the first day of the week everywhere in europe.

So, I just looked it up and found a nice map on wikipedia:

Monday makes more sense to me.

Seems weird for Sunday be part of the weekend and the beginning of the week.

Probably leads back to Sunday being the day of worship.

Monday for me. It's called the weekend for a reason. I work M-F too so starting off on Monday just makes intuitive sense.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

As brought up in this topic, calendars in Europe tend to start the week on Monday. There's not really a definitive beginning of the week, only what's typical for your country.

Technically, in an international enviorment, there is a definition.

ISO 8601, known for setting the international date standard to the yyyy-MM-dd format, also says that the week starts with monday.
