This whole remake project is just one long, winding, long winded excuse for Nomura to Nomura it up all over the plot just so he can retcon (og ff7 spoilers) Aerith's death.

One-off the singularly most iconic and recognized powerful story beats in early gaming, thrown out the window because Nomura can't fucking help himself. It's literally EXACTLY kingdom hearts all over again. Square needs to hire someone to just stand next to the man with a rolled up newspaper, and smack him with it every time he decides to write something.

I kinda saw the writing on the wall that they were gonna go full Compilation wank when I saw they were already emphasizing Sephiroth in Midgard.

FF7 was great but the Compilation was fucking awful.

They're not doing compilation wank. They're actively going against everything about the compilation. Remake straight out tells you that the OG game and the compilation is the bad ending. They even have you kill Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo in the final fight too.

Kitase did the story for the original FF7 and was also involved in a lot of other games as a director or producer that are generally praised for their stories like Chrono Trigger.

He wrote one shitty ass stupid novella. So what? He's on the project obviously in part because he's unsatisfied with the ending he wrote originally and wants to do better and I feel he definitely deserves a chance.

Most of CT was written by Masato Kato. FF7 was split between multiple people and Nomura had to veto some of his crazy ideas, which Nomura said he also had to do for Remake. FF10 was split between multiple people. Kitase was involved in a total of 4 games people would look at and think they had good stories. All 4 were 20+ years ago and he's been with SE for 32 years. When Kitase and Nojima have unfettered control of a story, they have not delivered once. The Kitase of now is a hack.

And Nomura, for all his personal wackiness, seems to be managing to reign in Kitase's worst impulses (Which 100% would have been X-3ish lol) for what it's worth.

It's not perfect but honestly the ride has been enjoyable enough so far.

I read somewhere that it was kinase who wanted to change it up and nomura was the one trying to keep it faithful but ultimately kinase had his way.

Now I feel people are complaing too much about a game just because it isn't like they remember in their childhood memories. Why can't y'all just accept this as its own thing?
