but it's possible and being able to install and run anything is literally one of the main benefits of using a PCJust because you can doesn't mean you always should. Sure, there's workarounds for getting something like a Doom installed on modern PC, but something obscure from the 80s and 90s, that's much easier said than done. Backwards compatibility is not something to boast about in regards to PC. --- Professional athletes lack intelligence to understand real world issues. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Being able to run old games is really not the barrier you think it is. I think I can recall one game stonewalling me and that was Sim theme Park? Most other old games run fine in compatibility mode. Heck there's a whole PC gaming wiki with solutions for troubleshooting games that won't start. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Backwards compatibility is not something to boast about in regards to PC.This is demonstrably wrong. Xbox has what, one, two generations of partial backwards compatibility, PlayStation has 1? Anything in the last 23 years should be as simple as clicking Play on Steam or GOG Galaxy. Ive run into 1 or w games from the late 90s I had color palette issues with and had to use compatibility mode for. Anything DOS based, never had a single problem, as a DOS Box wrapper is typically just baked into the game when you install it. Windows 95 / 98 era games will work better on Linux than Windows, as Linux / WINE has those old Windows libraries and modern Windows doesnt. --- Console war in a nutshell: http://imgur.com/xA6GJZ9.png ... Very nice! Iirc last year iGPU was more or less on par with GTX1050 gaming wise, dunno about the most recent iGPU. 10W with max 30+W seems a bit low for desktop. Ryzen GE series perhaps?I have a handheld. Ryzen 6800U. Generally reports put its graphics somewhere between the 1050 and 1060. Asterigos: Curse Of The Stars was the game I needed to bump up to 15W for. Running at 720p; some lighter games have run fine at 1080p even on 10W. I didn't adjust the FPS settings so likely was running at (or at least aiming for) 60. I try to run it at the lower wattages for battery life reasons. --- You can't spell Trumble without several letters of the English alphabet. ... Copied to Clipboard!

An i9 or Ryzen 9 is appropriate for productivity stuff, like encoding videos with Handbrake. The 3800X3D is the best CPU in the world for pure gaming, and its a Ryzen 7.Pheww, thank God. --- You're never ever fully dressed without a smile! ... Copied to Clipboard!
