Just because you can doesn't mean you always should. Sure, there's workarounds for getting something like a Doom installed on modern PC, but something obscure from the 80s and 90s, that's much easier said than done. Backwards compatibility is not something to boast about in regards to PC.
This is demonstrably wrong. Xbox has what, one, two generations of partial backwards compatibility, PlayStation has 1?

Anything in the last 23 years should be as simple as clicking Play on Steam or GOG Galaxy.

Ive run into 1 or w games from the late 90s I had color palette issues with and had to use compatibility mode for.

Anything DOS based, never had a single problem, as a DOS Box wrapper is typically just baked into the game when you install it.

Windows 95 / 98 era games will work better on Linux than Windows, as Linux / WINE has those old Windows libraries and modern Windows doesnt.
