Seems like every mobile game I've ever tried is like "oh you want to play the game? Well you watch 5 adverts, or you can spend 3.99, or you can spend 25 to make ads go away :)"

The mobile market is built on scummy monetization, so no.

For free games, there are some, but they are few and far between. Internet checkers, solitaire, etc. There are some versions of them that don't constantly hassle you with ads.

Not really. I still play them despite the scumminess since I have around 6 hours of free time at work per day though. My favorite in terms of as little scum as possible is Final Fantasy: War of the Visions. Ads are optional and wont interrupt you; you only go to them if you want minor extras. Characters are pretty easy to get, and you can get shards for all of them, including limited characters in your guild, even after the character is no longer available to pull. Neat collabs like Dragon Quest, Nier, Tomb Raider, Full Metal Alchemist, and for some reason Addison Rae.
And also Guardian Tales before Tyranthraxus even sees this topic :3 --- ( ^_^)/\(^_^ ) Maya High-Five! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Most worthwhile gacha don't have ads because they make tons of money on game currency. And the best games never expect the average player to spend a cent if they simply want to enjoy the game without maxing out every character. See Fate/Grand Order and Genshin Impact.

I can recommend DungeonMaker and Slice & Dice. You buy them once for a fair price and are done with it. I'm planning to buy a new phone by now, so I would be currious about other recommentations my self. Maybe I will look into the gacha general topic here too, as soon as I have my new phone. EDIT: Vampire Survivors probably also fits this, but honestly, at this point just pay the 5$ for the Switch or Steam version. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Most mobile games that cost money aren't scummy. It's the "freemium" ones that have to make their money by getting you to pay later that are almost always scummy.

action52 posted... It's the "freemium" ones that have to make their money by getting you to pay later that are almost always scummy. Basically this. Any "free" multiplayer games will most likely be milked to death with ads and micro transactions. If you don't mind single player games, you have quite a bit of options. For example Single player, paid : - The House of Da Vinci series (puzzle adventure) - Space Marshals series (stealth twin stick shooter) - Gris (platformer) - ICEY (hack n slash with 4th wall breaking narrative) - Meteorfall: Journey (deck building roguelike) - Anything from Glitch Games studio (puzzle adventure) Single player, FREE, no forced IAPs : - Cube Escape series (horror puzzle adventure) - Mekorama (puzzle) - Stranger Things 3 & ST 1984 (action adventure) - Shattered Pixel Dungeon (open source roguelike) - Tons of titles from Kemco (JRPG) ...
