He was in military never saw combat worked behind a desk his entire career. Also very maga.

I feel his hat is laughable.

I was born in Germany did my mandatory service for 2 years dicking around stocking and sometimes driving an ambulance to thank me for my many hours of seeing how far I could squirt water with various plastic syringes is ludicrous.

I want to laugh in his fucking face.

Those types can be annoying. I've seen dudes with their ribbon racks made as stickers for the back of their vehicles. That's pretty cringe.

The only vets I'd ever thank for "fighting for freedom" are WW2 vets and even then it would still be a crummy and entitled opinion to have to expect people's thanks. Every other war past it was just imperialist BS. I feel more sorry than anything for Vietnam vets who got drafted and there's still an asterisk for that given the various messed up human rights violations that went on over there, but that could be said about every war.

You know who should really be thanked? Veterinarians.

The last time the U.S. military actually fought for the freedom of Americans was the US Civil War. Make sure you tell your dad that killing North Koreans in the Korean war, Vietcong in Vietnam, and Muslims in the Middle East who had nothing to do with 9/11 did not in any way protect American freedoms.

I'd argue not even WWll was about that because while we were attacked by Japan, the reality where the Axis powers took over the U.S. has a very low probability.

The military people who work behind desks do important work too. This thread is offensive.

I never served, but I wear this on a shirt. If all you know about someone is that they are a veteran, why would you not have some level of respect for them?

Of all people to have a hate circle jerk over, veterans shouldn't be up there. Dump on this guys douchebag dad, don't get it anywhere near veterans in general.

What's wrong with taking pride in your decorations?

I can't name one member of our government who lost their life in war. There are untold men and women that did. Citizens. Mother and fathers. Sons and daughters.

Nobody's gonna make you say thanks, but for the love of god, don't use this as a reason to swing the other way.

My great grandfathers, who both fought in WW2, were always adamant that they did not want to discuss it in any way whatsoever. No thanks. No war stories. No 'what was it like?'. It was a bad time for them, as they had young families.

So yeah. That fucked up a few school history projects for me.

I think the issue is the arrogance of asking for gratitude.

Some people might do that, sure, but it's absolutely not the majority showing pride.

If I had men and women beside me helping me survive and they came home scarred or never came out at all, I'd be telling you to be thankful for them as well.
