That seems incredibly optimistic. Power vacuums are great structural safety mechanisms.
Actual consequences would completely dismantle it to the foundation. We're talking about a pyramid scheme full of abuse, rape, kidnapping, maybe even murder.

And Scientology doesn't have the benefit of having a zillion churches that are all pretty much self-operating. It is all centralized to benefit the criminals at the top.

Scientology literally runs a gulag in California full of literal slaves. Everyone knows about it and lets them get away with it.

People should be free to believe or not; to join a religion, or not.

But religion, and the membership thereof, should gain civil or legal benefits whatsoever.

No tax exemptions. If they wish to claim tax relief on their charitable donations, they may do that separately. But a religion, in and of itself, is not a charity.

No softly-softly approach to criminal activity: if there are grounds to suspect a church is up to no good, you tear it down for evidence like you would a drug den.

No credit given to criminals who 'find Jesus'. Want to express remorse? Fine. Want to work on rehabilitation? Great. Should the fact that you 'turned to Jesus' have any bearing on your parole hearing? Fuck no.

No religious justification, interference, or language to be used in legislation.

Just looked it up, Scientology sends members who've been accused of breaking the rules to camps run by a branch of the church called the Rehabilitation Project Force:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rehabilitation_Project_Force

According to the page:

The program includes manual labor tasks and the study of L. Ron Hubbard's works. The rehabilitation program may take more than a year to complete, and the Church has been accused of overworking and mistreating its participants. Critics have characterized the RPF as a forced labor and re-indoctrination program comparable to the Soviet gulag system.

And that's on top of "the Hole", a prison where Scientologists have been held for years at a time:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hole_(Scientology)

If those Pizzagate/qanon fuckwits gave half a flying fuck about reality, maybe they could have done something about this.

I don't disagree with shutting down the Church of Scientology, but you also need to shut down other religious communes too (Catholic, Christian, Muslim). They've all done damage.

Sure. There should still be intense scrutiny towards religious organisations that show hallmarks of cult-like behaviour and are shown to violate the human rights of its practitioners.

Everybody has the right to be a Christian, a Muslim or a Pastafarian. Not everyone has the right to start groups like Heaven's Gate, Boko Haram or the Oath Keepers.

Boko Haram and the Oath Keepers are militant terrorist organisations. So yeah, they should be outlawed.

Cults are a bit more difficult, but any grounds for suspecting abuse, tear it down and prosecute.
