From what I can understand from her Mega Man wiki page, she absorbed Colonel's core. I guess they her and Colonel were originally suppose to be one reploid but split up into siblings to make it more stable? I don't get it myself. They should've just left it at siblings and moved on .

So what, Colonel was a maverick. Iris unwittingly turns herself maverick by taking Colonel's core. And then either Iris decides to attack Zero or Zero recognises what's happened and starts attacking her?

It does kinda happen from nowhere doesn't it? It may be an implied "revenge for killing my brother" thing or maybe she honestly believes she's fighting for reploid independence? Wild guesses galore.

I feel like Iris was meant to be more important to the story overall.
She's the last thing Zero thinks about when he supposedly dies at the end of X5. That's gotta be worth something. If she returned in a later game they'd be able to contextualise what happened a little more.
But then Zero hid himself while he tried to repair himself. And then in MMZ I don't remember if she even gets mentioned. Some people think she was meant to be the Dark Elf.

I recently saw the Rockman X Dive roster. They actually bought her back but it was for the sole purpose of putting her in different costumes like any shameless gacha.
Shame, because I'd still like to see the alternate MMZ timeline where X5 is treated like the last X game.

Fucking X6. I think to celebrate your reaching of the game I will go back and watch Clement's X6 playthrough. It's a classic, after all.

blizzard wolfang down. figured what the hell. i was in there for the upgrades i could finally get to with the blade armor.

he fell on his back by himself officer. honest! i'm still actually impressed by this one. they had the balls to go with a maverick even bigger than frost walrus. had the darkness nightmare effect throughout the whole level so the acid rain segments were a total bitch.

I only really use Ultimate Armor X on X6 at this point. And that's the 5% of the time I didn't instantly pick Zero.

Also since this is the last of the sprite-based X games, are you going to try X challenge?

well i went into metal shark players stage to grab the shadow armor helmet and take down player. ended up forced in the another route portal and fought high max and sent back to Isoc like a little bitch. anyway back into players stage to take care of his ass.

blade armor is alright. when you air dash you stop in the air and have limited invincibility til you let go of the dash button or hold it for five seconds. i used the shadow armor on my first playthrough way back on anniversary collection and had some fun with it since you stick to walls, have spike invincibility, cling to ceilings, and you go full ninja with shuriken instead of regular buster shots.

i didn't even have a scuba tank to shove in his mouth and blow up. the conveyor belt area was a total bitch. went into it the first time with 7 lives and game overed. did that about 3 or 4 more times before getting by it.

Iris and Colonel were unstable as one Reploid, which is why they separated them. Iris is programmed with pacifists values, and Colonel is a militant protector.

When they merged, she once again became unstable, but was fighting with the intent in her mind "for a world where only Reploids exist. Together with Zero.".

The Colonel, and most of Repliforce are arguably not Maverick's. This is the first point in the series where it's open to interpretation that Reploid rights are being violated by calling them "Maverick's" ala "terrorists.

Sigma is manipulating the Colonel from the shadows, but no one is infected with the Sigma Virus. Everyone is just acting out of ulterior motives and chasing ideals. It's actually a really deep game and the last X game really worth a damn.

It's also implied that Zero is "Patient Zero" of the Sigma virus and is responsible for infecting Sigma, who was previously a law abiding Reploid.

I'm waiting for the BURN TO THE BURN chapter in this story.

well that was certainly an interesting way to do a devil. pain in the ass to fight with the shadow armor too. it was pretty much the only way to get through the level.

i think i ruined high max's high. dude deserves it for bogarting. he was easy enough after i figured out that i could use blade armors charged saber attack to stun him for a magma saber.

dammit, another acid rain segment. i hated these sections now and i hated them the first time i played it

I kind of like how Gate's Lab is just a chaotic mess mismatched stage hazards. I wouldn't want every level to be like that but I like that one exists.

Reused song, bad translation, weird post-X5 story, OP player character that can keep pace with it. I like it more than X7 or X8's end stages at least.

Boss rushes are great.
You don't like running through 8 of them back to back with their weaknesses?

It's great in the classic series at least. I remember in X there's a few where you have to wait for the boss to unfreeze or for the i-frames to wear off. Those kind of suck but then a bunch of the X games balance it out by giving you Street Fighter moves, Zero and the Nova Strike.

finally done with 6. the fight with gate and sigma were absolute slogs to get through. at least sigma had the weird goo things to drop health and weapon pick ups.

oh yeah. we all know what X is gonna do with Alia to celebrate. you think that gets annoying? the clanging of metal bodies get down and dirty? well that's it for now. when we come back, we'll move on to 7. which will be a blind play through for me as i've never played it as i went the gamecube direction instead of PS2.

first i've ever gotten a game over in an intro stage. seems some of the controls aren't doing what the navigator messages say they're suppose to do. or am i doing something wrong? well not giving up. going to see this one through.

This. I can goddamn confirm since I actually went out of my way to get the platinum trophy for the last half of the X legacy collection. I was fucking miserable playing through X7 while X6 I actually enjoyed more than X5 w/ it's stupid count down and RNG plot gimmick, lol.

X8 is actually fun man'o'war stage aside though. Lumine is totally the best X series final boss.
