I think I've easily been One and Done'd by 4/5 dozen people just in the last month. Connection is near perfect, but they win the game and fucking Alt+F4.
I don't understand. I play Manon, Cammy, Ryu, Dee Jay, Gief, and JP. I hit literally every archetype and I get quit out on every third game. Are they just pussies? Who cares about your points dawg. I'm just happy I made Diamond. I've just started blocking everyone who one and dones me. I can't learn a damn thing from one game, they all feel like wasted effort. --- https://i.ibb.co/2vRbyC0/Rosa-6.png "Friends don't let friends watch The Big Bang Theory" - mogar002 ... I've never understood this mentality with online play. You're not obliged to a certain number of games. It's not normal in friendlies. If they beat you and leave or get rekt and leave, move on.

Am I wrong to think that it's always more fun and better practice to play a full set? Surely just playing hundreds of people one time makes it harder to get better? Where's the adaptation practice? What happens when you can't just smoothbrain neutral and you have to actually apply game knowledge and test execution. That's the fun part of fighting games. I'm in a contest with myself to improve, and that's so much harder when I have no time to apply new strategy. im just giving my opinion based on what youve said. you seem easily upset, since this is just a common thing in fighting games and yet your main reaction was to be insulting and say that you block people. and then you seem a bit overconfident by saying things like "i hit literally every archetype", when pretty much nobody plays six characters all very well. its not a jab at you, there could be a number of reasons why somebody doesnt want to play again, but you pretty much instantly went on attack mode about it ... I mean I share TC's same frustration with one and done in matches, because I also like to learn more to improve myself whether I lose or win against my opponent. The issue is I don't think TC is posting in good faith about it. Most people don't rage about it, they just go on with their lives.

TC, you remind me of a good friend of mine who likes to play Smash Bros with me. My GSP with Bowser is in the 98th percentile, technically, lol. These systems can be gamed, but I am still a very, VERY good player. This friend of mine had to be taught from the ground up how to play Smash, and he SUCKED. Like, I would roll the entire roster in mirror matches and only lose a handful of times kind of bad. But, then he got actually pretty good on his own terms. That came with a VERY inflated ego. Like he's a better player than I am because he uses more characters kind of ego. Like he kicks players out of his arenas after one loss kind of ego. The controller always 'drifts'. There's always a lag switcher in his midst after a close loss. And I mean he gets ANGRY. Maybe not LowTierGod angry, but DAMN. Sometimes we gotta put the controller down before we teach it to fly, and toss it across the room. --- Resident Shiny Hunter of CE 307 Shinys and counting! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Competition brings out the salt (obviously) but I care about improving and that's several orders of magnitude more difficult with no adaptation practice. I play Manon in Diamond and the rest I generally go even with Platinum players. I never claimed to he an expert with any of them, that's the whole reason I want people to stay in so I can grow as a player. Even if I get double perfected I stay in because I know it helps me improve. So, yeah, I'm fuckin mad about it. I brought up the archetypes in characters because if I was getting O/D'd just as JP or just as Gief I get it. People hate zoners and are terrified of grapplers. But all of them + a Shoto + a charge character? What gives? I've been quit out on with all of these on multiple occasions. Prestoff posted... I very much agree with this post. I do miss Smash. My whole friends group gravitates to other games now but I loved going to smash tourneys. Unfortunately the only friend I have that likes fighting games as much as me has been out for a while so I'm largely having to play online to improve instead of with a practice partner. That's just it. I am not a good player. I play whomever I find fun in the moment, usually the ballerina, but I do not have a positive win rate. If I lose, I stay in. Because I'm trying to get better. If I was getting washed but got to play full sets, I'd be totally fine, but that's not what's happening. I'm not making excuses for losing like your homeboy is. I know I'm bad, which is why this is so fucking annoying. At least I'm trying. You're probably right though. Maybe trying to play after getting oD'd like that means it best to play otherwise. I have more luck with this kinda thing before work in the morning anyway. --- https://i.ibb.co/2vRbyC0/Rosa-6.png "Friends don't let friends watch The Big Bang Theory" - mogar002 ... I had a day where 6 out of 10 matches were Cammy. I struggle against her and will still play the set. Thing is, running the set is an old school mentality. I honor it, but I'm at the point where, while I find it disappointing, I understand that people don't always want a run back.

The sad reality is that no one owes you a Bo3 unfortunately. If you're serious about improving i would hit up forums and discords and get some first to 5's or 10's against people your level. It's a good way to learn matchups, too.
