What's the point of making a bed? Is there any benefit besides aesthetics?

I make my bed if people are coming over, but most the time my cats will go under the covers and make messy anyways

I never make my bed, but I also never get under the covers. I sleep on top of the comforter and just use a blanket on top of me. I do fold the blanket every morning though.

I do to keep my cat on the comforter, but aside from that, it's pointless. No chore is more useless than one explicitly for aesthetics.

It's true though. Most chores are for sanitary reasons, but not making your bed, it's purely aesthetic, same goes for folding clothes, although I understand you don't want to wearing wrinkled clothes in public. But there's no one to care or judge if you don't make your bed, especially if you live alone.
