Good luck, and don't be afraid to change up your build if what you've got isn't working.

Not having access to the Part Shop when restarting from checkpoint is my biggest core complaint. If you don't already own the tool you want to use, you're SOL.

Armored Core is one of those series that cater to a very specific audience. And usually a rather small one.

My friend list on the PS5 had a majority of people playing it and that pleased me a lot to see

What are you looking for in an ahegao mech exactly?

Anyways, this game is fucking amazing. Easily me favorite Armored Core game by far. I keep trying to rush to the end so I can do PVP but then getting distracted by builds, replaying missions to buy every part, the arena, and even just painting my AC.

So far, I like For Answer more. But I need to play more. For Answer's difficulty is very specific though.

Beat Balteus. Now I'm stuck on an arena battle. Some of these things just move too fucking fast I can't keep up, I feel like such a clown cranking the camera around in every direction to keep up

I settled on an "arena killer" build pretty early that carried me pretty much all the way through it. Struggles a bit with super heavies but takes care of most everything else pretty safely. I can give a few details if you want.

The game is designed for you to always hard lock in 1v1

It handles lights extremely well. I made it specifically to counter them, but it turned out to work for just about everything.

For both hands, get the burst rifle that just keeps firing as long as you hold the trigger (not the one that charges).

For both shoulders, get the "heavy" 10-missile pods.

Get an FCS with good missile spec.

Otherwise just a medium biped build. Pack on what armor you can, but make sure you've got a bit of speed.

In combat, just play keepaway. As long as the enemy is in range, constantly back away and juke when they rush at you. Hold down both triggers so you're constantly shooting the rifles, and fire your missiles so that the second pod starts shooting as the first one stops (for a longer continuous stream). Kills a bit slow, but it's painfully safe. Bunny hopping helps too, if you're having trouble with things shooting explosives at you.

Get into the robot, CEmen

My ONLY issue is how it refreshes everything when you load a checkpoint. It means you can be reckless and die and just get all your stuff back again. Unless this goes all into the cost in the end, I'm a bit disappointed.

Otherwise this game is sick. Thinking back, the raven 1v1 fights were just like a cpu invasion in the souls games. A fun fight between two in game sets of rules. I'm at the end of chapter one and this is gonna be a fucking doozy

I got the game a couple of days ago. Admittedly this is my first AC game so I'm trying to go in with as open a mind as possible, but I'm really enjoying it so far, way more than last year's Elden Ring tbh. The combat is super fast and engaging, the set pieces are genuinely epic and I'm liking the customisation more than I thought I would. There is a lot to take in for customising your mech but it's also not overwhelming and it won't take an hour just to change your configuration like with some other mech games I've played. It also feels refreshing to play a new game in 2023 that isn't either a 200,000 hour long open world RPG clusterfuck or another remake/remaster.

Its a very difficult fight. But the secret to beating him is to equip tank legs and heavy armor parts, twin laser canons on the back, and rapid fire energy guns (they shoot those energy balls out). The rapid energy guns absolutely shred his pulse shield and can stagger him pretty quickly on his regular shield, and the tank/heavy parts give you plenty of armor.

If you stay close and alternate between firing the canons and the rapid energy guns, you can take him out. I know because I was stuck on him and this is how I beat him yesterday.

So you want it to be harder? Fuck no lol. That's not what Armored Core has been about. The bosses in this game are already way harder than anything else in the series.

Honestly, Armored Core used to be more complicated in past entries. There were 4 different boosters (main, back, side and overboosters), there were shoulder weapons and there were stabilizers. Then there was tuning you could do for each part. They streamlined things to make it more accessible, because they knew there would be a lot of first time players this time around.

Not shameful. The bosses are way harder than the normal enemies. It's a very noticeable difficulty spike. People have been getting stuck at every boss, even the boss at the end of the first mission killed me several times.

Ultralight is better for Balteus. Just stay permanently under it with hard lock and holding forward. None of its attacks will ever hit you.

Staying under him is way easier said than done. Dude is all over the place and his missiles are homing. Plus his second phase spits fire all over the ground.

It's very easy because of hardlock. Just get the highest speed you can. 370+ is easy to achieve without sacrificing much damage.

Missiles won't ever hit you, because you're so fast, and the fire wasn't an issue.

Yes, it can be insanely difficult. I had to 'armor up' so to say since I was using a light guy. Cut his railgun damage by like half, which was the main thing giving me trouble. <_<

Pulse gun melts the shield FAST.

Alright I gave it a chance but after Balteus and the next big guy, I'm just not liking these Souls style bosses. Give me more giant fortresses to fight and more ACs.

For better or worse, they put a lot of focus on bosses this time.

At least after Sea Spider, you get more variety in the bosses for a bit. More close to same or medium size bosses instead of all giants.

As for the most recent boss that gave me tons of trouble (chapter 4 end boss), I redid that mission last night with a completely different setup because I missed a part container and finished the whole mission without dying once. Got my first S rank out of it. It was really night and day how much setting up specifically for that boss wrecked it.

I thought the bosses were the best part by far, if the bosses are dragging it for you then you might quit now caus the chapter 4 end boss is by far the most dark souls influenced boss in the game, basically felt like fighting pontiff sulivhan after he did a line of crack, cocaine, meth, and then injected some heroine for good measure

How... complicated are the controls for the game?
I've been scared off from playing the AC series because of the stories I've heard (and the pictures I've seen) of the difficult fingertwisting overly complicated control system.

That's the one I redid. The easy mode build was laser lance for stagger (with a shotgun to get the final hit if necessary), then switch left hand for charged pilebunker. It's terrible at dodging the lance, and pilebunker kills each phase in two hits. Made the fight I bashed my head into for hours into a joke.
