The reason a lot of people think that he's hard is probably mostly coming from how quickly you have to fight him after just starting the game. Honestly once you beat him you'll probably have a lot better understanding of the mechanics and how combat works in this game. I've never played an AC game before so I didn't really know what I was doing, and it was harder than I was expecting considering everything you fight before that is fodder, but being aggressive and swording it to death seemed to be the way to go. Still slightly annoyed about the invisible wall that surrounds the area you fight in which the boss can freely pass through, took a face full of missles a couple times trying to get at it. --- Thus I became a madman. <cite>Prototypic posted [p:975658502] in I thought ... It's not a Souls game, it's Armored Core from what I've been seeing so far. Definitely more boss focus than before but that hardly makes it Souls. I loved previous Armored Core games, and while most missions still feel true to the Armored Core formula, the bosses clearly take influence from Souls games. They're huge, they hit like fucking trucks and they have tons of health that you only deal meaningful damage to while they're momentarily staggered. It makes the bosses feel tedious more than challenging. Because now it's about dodging huge, flashy attacks while waiting for a good moment to stagger them. I wish the bosses were designed in the same way they designed fights against other ACs. Those still felt like classic Armored Core. Fodder and even enemy AC's aren't too bad, but the bosses are definitely rough. It's probably the hardest game I've played in many years. People seem to be comparing it to Sekiro (which I haven't gotten to yet). Chapter 1, 2, and 4 end bosses all took me a bit to get past. I had to take a break on Sunday after that last one because my hands were sore by the time I beat it. Nothing else took more than a few tries. It finally feels like my build options are good and open, though. The only thing I feel like I'm outright missing is the shoulder chain gun. It's a real shame, because it's one of my favorite weapons. Leg options feel a bit lacking, too, but they went for most of the archetypes, it feels like, you just don't get much besides a single piece for any archetype that's not biped. <cite>Dalthine posted [p:975707962] in I thought ...
