Madre just showed me pics of her new used truck. 2020 Tacoma, 2wd, straight 4, 23k miles, extended cab but no rear seats which is kinda odd.

Used car prices in general have been insane (but are coming down), however used Tacomas have been super expensive for a long time.

My ex had a 99 Tacoma, and she'd get notes under her windshield wiper all the time asking to sell it.

Tacoma are popular work trucks. Toyotas are known for being reliable cars.

What model of 2020 Tacoma?

I bought a new Dodge Ram 1500 last year after looking at the used truck market. The cost of buying a lower miles, later model used one was not enough savings over simply buying a brand new one.

Also, the good news is, if you buy a brand new one, and take good care of it, you can get really good resale value on it, which I plan to do in a few years.

I also got a steal of a deal on a 2011 Toyota Corolla. It's only got 107k miles on it, the car is in great shape body and interior wise, and I paid $2500 for this car last year. I recently had to replace the coil pack (4 coils were about $100 on rock auto), and it took 10 minutes to install them. I use the corolla for long commutes, and only drive the truck to work once or twice per week to save on gas, and not rack up too many miles on my precious.

Relative died, and there was an estate sale, and they offered to give it to me for $2500, so it was a family deal, not even a bro or buddy deal.

Used car lots get cars like that for that price, and then sell them to you for double, or even triple the price.

Not for a Toyota engine. Those easily get over 200k. My first Tacoma didn't have a major mechanical break until 211k when it cracked a piston.

Its a Tacoma. Toyota trucks are literally the best trucks you can buy.

The used market in general is stupid as fuck but its getting slightly less stupid.

I hope more automakers follow Fords example with the Maverick though, Id love a compact truck like that but only if Toyota makes it >_>

Where I'm at people are asking 20k for a first gen Tacoma with over 200k miles. It is freaking insane!

I bought a 2000 TRD Tacoma at 100k miles about 4 years ago for around $13,000. Now, at around 135k miles I could sell it immediately for more than I paid for it. Unreal.

tacomas hold value insanely well. honestly that price doesn't seem that much out of line but it does seem a little high

Just get a normal car and rent a pickup from home depot for like $20 the maybe 5 days a year you need one.
