Seems like a perfect candidate considering how big a hit Inquisition was. In the age of remakes and remasters, this one is oddly missing.

It's a generally beloved classic. Probably don't think the rewards outweigh the risks.

With the huge success of Baldur's Gate 3, I wouldn't doubt if EA tries to cash in with a lazy port.

I hated playing it on PS3 and my friend said that it's simply awful on console and you need to play it on PC.

If true, there is much less insentive to remaster games of PC than there are for consoles, so that could be a reason.

I just started a new DA: O play through the other day out of boredom, and it could definitely use some love.

It was made on a completely different, in-house engine. Basically none of the documentation is still around on how it worked, and hardly anyone who was there to work on it is still with BioWare. There can't be a DA:O remaster, it would have to be a remake from the ground up. It would be a big undertaking, and there just aren't the resources to do that.

I'll never understand why video game preservation is so shitty. It reminds me of the early days of Hollywood with silent films and how people thought nobody would ever care so they threw it all out when they were done.

I didn't understand how people were so careless with games in 80s and 90s. Like with Squaresoft losing the original Final Fantasy 3 . And I would have thought things would have improved by the 21st century. But nope. I don't get why companies continue to make the same mistakes they made over 30 years ago

Anyway though, EA can afford to remake a game. Don't tell me they can't. They make enough from Madden and FIFA alone to pay for a remake of DA Origins

Right? Even back then when it was released it wasnt much of a looker. Typical ps3 era brownish look and not much details to faces and environments. Of course, it was a big game with lots of stuff going on.

But yeah, been wanting to play it and surprised there isnt a version you can purchase on the on the console stores.

Oh, thats interesting. So its definitely that the incentive isnt there, cause at that point might as well make a brand new game with the resources it would take.

It's expensive to maintain effectively dead code, repos, development diaries / boards, documentation and assets. Several GB's or more of dead server space plus subscriptions to maintain e.g github.

I will say that it feels smooth on the Series X, but yeah, the visuals are tough, man.

Im not a big remake guy, but I would honestly pay full price for a DA:O remake.

Just a tremendous game.
