I'm going to need you to find me a country of relevant size that doesn't have a place with notable crime.

Once again, every nation has those. Maybe not something like Vatican City, I suppose, but that's why I mentioned the quantifier before.

The US isn't the exclusive authority on this.

Now post them from around the world.

I'm not. I'm saying that every location has advisories placed on them by someone.

He has put in a bizarrely loaded question in which he "innocently" compares the safety of Canada and Mexico. The fishing comes from the fact that they are trying to bait out responses.

And no rules are broken, but this is the sort of posting that is highly questionable as it boarders on trolling.

As a Mexican I'll say this: no country is 100% safe. Look out for yourself, do some research about where you want to go beforehand, learn some basic Spanish and don't bling your money around and you'll be pretty safe when visiting. Just be smart about it.

to my understanding based on reading and irl conversations with locals during a trip to the rgv, the violent crime issues are mostly in mexico's border states, but things are not nearly as bad as in the 2010s. they're major travel destinations for americans due to high quality products and services (esp. medical and veterinarian) at lower prices, as well as very inexpensive real estate for expats settling in such cities, but also dangerous due to being transportation gateways to american markets which criminal enterprises occasionally fight over control of.

there's a conventional wisdom with respect to safety best practices in recent-historically problematic areas. some towns and cities are safe to visit, some are off-limits, some are safer during certain seasons and/or times of day (when the boomers flock in). it's ill-advised to travel with certain types of vehicles as well, or for visitors to travel with personal vehicles in such cities. for long-distance traveling to the interior (e.g., tx to nl), flight is advised over driving through tm.

I sometimes watch the news en espaol because I'm learning the language... one time I saw a segment on these US travel advisory warnings about Mexico and everyone in the comments was saying things like, "we read about all the mass shootings your country has, so don't come for us."

It's a case of pointing a finger at somebody and getting three pointing back at you.
