i just instantly mute it when i see ads and turn mute off when it's over or as soon as i can skip it. I don't know how people would sit through all those loud ads. Wonder if youtube could ever do something about people who mute the ads.

Er someone please tell me just what the holly hells a Youtube ad is please and thank you?

On Firefox desktop I have uBlock Origin, Ad Block, Ad Blocker For Youtube, Sponsor Block For Youtube and Privacy Badger crammed into it.

Imagine not using an ad blocker on the internet in this day and age. SMH! So you like getting viruses and trojans and trackers do you TC?

I have adblock.

I skip through any promotions/sponsorship segments done by the youtuber. Thankfully most of the ones I watch section it off, and put it at the beginning or end of the video..

I've had adblockers since I got my first laptop.

Only found out YouTube had ads a few years ago, when viewing it on someone else's phone.

I always like that you can tell exactly where the sponsored segment of a video ends, because that's always where the "most played" bit is on the timeline.

Privacy Badger is a pretty damn good adblocker by itself. Without the surveillance backend, modern web ads just roll over and die.

I feel like at least half of people using this aren't fully aware how it works. Not pointing fingers itt, just an FYI. Its not automated, you, or someone else, needs to tag a section of a video before everyone can block it.

Having just one Ad Blocker is just asking for trouble. You need more than one. I have what I have in Firefox as I feel it is better to be safe than sorry and I cover all bases.

yeah isn't youtube really cracking down on adblockers? i really don't blame them. They don't charge to use the site. IIrc the overwhelming majority of youtube users don't use ad blockers. IIrc wikipedia is really hurting too, you ever donate to them?

The link I posted was for Twitch

As for YouTube, uBlock Origin still works just fine with its standard lists provided that you keep them updated

oh really, this site? i like wikipedia a lot. And it is a free site and iirc they show no ads. So i completely understand. Though i am not surprised that if you donate to them before and then they have your contact information.......
