I feel like more and more it's becoming harder to ignore just how much politics affects your everyday life now. Maybe 15 years ago, you could turn a blind eye to it, but now seeing politicians attack your mother, sister, daughter, cousin, and so on, people are opening their eyes and realizing they need to actually contribute to removing these people.

Even the NRA absolutely hated it when the Black Panthers started to open-carry, which led to some of the strictist gun laws being passed in California.

Nearly 1.3 million people in Ohio voluntarily agreed to let the government have more control over them.

You'll be shocked to learn that the "Vote YES" ads had nothing to do with changing the constitution, and everything to do with drag queens and genital mutilation. They literally showed footage of drag queen story hour in their "Vote YES to save the children" ads. I'm not surprised that a lot of low information voters fell for it

IIRC, Ohio has part of Appalachia and Amish country too.

My nextdoor app is hilarious right now. So many "Why should we have to abide by rules made by everyone else in my small town. This shuts out my vote." Followed by massive waves of everyone else telling them they probably shouldn't bother voting anymore.

That confused me at first since I'm used to red color being for Republicans.

Special election referendums like this absolutely favor older and wealthier republican voters that can take the time during the weekday as opposed to the over-worked working poor and younger women - the target of this bill - who are often too busy raising kids.

I really wonder sometimes what people who have never been to America think is going on here.

Like you get news where it's "this place legalizes abortion!" And right under it "this other place throws you in jail for going to get an abortion at place!" And people just scratching their head like how the fuck does this even work?
