No wonder I stopped watching OP 13 years ago. The fucking fight lasted all of 3 minutes.
Pretty sure most of the highlights were in last weeks trailer.

Anime fans got done dirty.

Honestly, the One Piece anime is literally unwatchable outside of highlight clips. The pacing is fucking atrocious. I once watched a clip where a speed blitz attack took over a minute and a half to actually occur.

This episode was about the transformation though. Same as the manga.

I can only hope we get a One Piece Brotherhood in my lifetime.

I just watched it. Makes me really glad I'm a manga reader for OP, the anime pacing, amount of filler, flashbacks, it's just...insane.

Is MHA the only shonen rn with decent pacing and balanced story/fight ratio?

Manga takes like 3-5 minutes to read compared to a 22 minute episode.

Problem with Chainsaw Man is that half the episode runtime is about how perverted the main character is, in some way or another. It's well-paced but there's still way too much of that.

This the one with the Gear 5 transformation? I've seen clips of it and ngl the visibility was downright awful.

The fight itself was awesome. But like I said in the op, that was like 3 minutes at most.

I feel "half' is an exaggeration but yeah, that's also just Denji. I love him personally, I feel the author does a good balance of having him be an actual person with a horrible childhood and having that be both funny but also depressing.

Fair, but it's a pretty large chunk of the story in any case. It's either played for laughs or played up as his primary motive for pretty much all of the first season. Maybe it gets better later, but it's a really significant issue I have with the series. I don't like that kind of thing, it detracts from an otherwise awesome series.

Mostly a One Piece problem though because of their fear of filler episodes. 1 chapter = 1 episode is absolute lunacy

I'm really hoping we get some filler after Wano to fix this, but in this case it was because Oda wrapped up the Orochi plot in between the Gear 5 stuff. Orochi is one of the worst plots in all of OP though, should have just killed him off for real the first time.

The anime should've moved that entire plot point to next episode and focused entirely on Luffy and Kaido though.

The fight isn't over. There will be more in the next episode.

Edit: Since it's 1 chapter = 1 episode, the fight should last through the next 5 episodes.

That'd be worse though, the Hyori stuff isn't over yet, you'd be stopping the heat of the G5 fight for an entire episode

No, that's specifically a G5 thing and makes sense in context of Luffy.

That already happened, the pacing didn't get any better. Then Oda started taking months off at a time, first the void month to plan for the final saga, then the surgery month, on top of his regular breaks and magazine breaks have made this a pretty bad year for OP chapter releases lol

Far less popular anime have thrived on cours. Fans would rather half the episodes half as often if pacing and quality were better.

Attack on Titan stopped multiple times for example.

Sounds like a failure on the leaderships part if they insist on dragging every chapter out well beyond what it actually supports.

well what it is is that Toei doesn't wanna lose their slot from being on break, and that the anime is still very popular in japan. They could give a fuck what western fans think about the pacing, as long as Japanese viewers keep watching.
