A "rarepair" is a fandom term for a character pairing that has next to no content or support within a given fandom. Say you like the idea of two characters being together, so you look up fanfiction or art and you can't find jack-shit about it - that's a rarepair.

There's no objective criteria that defines what a rarepair is. The rarer the better; like a pairing with 1000 fanfictions is is no way a rarepair, but a pairing with 20~ would absolutely be considered as such. A pairing with either no fan attention or single-digit amounts of fan content is probably the platonic ideal of what a rarepair is.

So yeah, post your rarepairs.

In my case, I've got two fighting game pairings that aren't super popular. Fighting games are probably one of the best mediums for this sort of thing, given how most of the characters never really interact as people and just beat each other up.

The first one is Leo and Lili from Tekken. I feel like Lili would fall for Leo's boyish charm, and then when she finds out that Leo is either an androgynous woman or an AFAB non-binary person, it would lead her down a path of introspection that has her processing her rivalry with Asuka in a new light. In the end, I think Lili would stay with Leo, and her family would generally assume that Leo is a guy - but Sebastian would find out, and he'd be like a supportive secret-keeper for the two.

I can find five fanfics for this pairing, max.

The next one isn't super serious - Baraka and Skarlet from Mortal Kombat. Tarkatans go around enslaving other populations and races to serve as meat, meaning there's a lot of viscera and gore in and around Tarkatan settlements. In one of their MK11 openings, Skarlet states that she misses Baraka because of the blood he'd constantly shed, and idk it just seems like kind of a silly little pairing between a horror movie monster and a blood witch. Not entirely surprisingly, I can't find a single Baraka/Skarlet piece of media.
