I just realized the game has a new menu that shows me how good my characters are.

Oh wow were getting an official animated short for Genshin?! The Song Burning In The Embers and seems to be focusing on Arlecchino. Definitely excited for that

The short is out and I really liked it. I got a question about Arlecchino though as someone not fully caught up on Fontaine world quests and character quests. Might not even have an answer yet, but watch the short first anyways also to avoid possible spoilers. What is Arlecchinos curse? The short mentions her having one and I think it was briefly mentioned in game, but I dont recall anything specific about it and cant seem to find any info

There's no official information. I've seen a bunch of lore theories, but I think most of them are shot to shit now that we've seen her as a child as basically mini-Cchino, complete with the red-X eyes.

I'm not sold on her mechanics just yet. Kinda want to know she isn't just a Hu Tao sidegrade. (TBF, most pyro damage dealers are sidegrades.)

4*s for Arlecchino are Lynette, Freminet and Xiangling. My Xiangling isnt C6 yet despite playing since the start and Ill happily take Lynette Cs so basically just hoping Freminet stays away since Id never use him

Sounds like a win for you. Those are pretty crappy 4-stars for me, but at this point, there aren't too many permutations that would be favorable.

Couldve been a bit better since some 4*s just rarely show, but yeah pretty nice. We need more ways of getting 4* characters since some just dont show up very much at all. Kaveh apparently hasnt been back since his debut

Kaveh isn't very good, so they're doing players a favor on that front.

Just saying he hasnt appeared again. A lot of 4*s feel like they rarely show up compared to the Mondstadt specials like Barbara and Xiangling

This has been a common refrain we've been hearing a lot of lately regarding the infrequency of 4-star characters. They're going to have to add some kind of system for targeting 4-stars.

Yeah, sure would be nice. I think the vast majority of us are sick of seeing Xingqiu and Bennett on banners

Got her weapon after getting loser Lyney bow twice first. Weapon banner is a scam never again am I using Fates on it. Just wanted Arlecchinos weapon for the style. Down to 364 Fates now when Id have had like 538 if I just quit after getting Arlecchino herself. Ah well I guess

with ~250 wishes i ended up with C2R1 Arlecchino <3

i lost one 50/50 but it was around 30 pity or so. i got EXTREMELY lucky pulling her weapon on the very first 10 pull with <10 pity built on weapon banner.

it truly was meant to be <3

While it's almost inevitable I will pull, and I even pre-farmed the rainbow roses, I didn't grab her last night because her ascension materials are gated behind questing. I played for a while last night, did her story quest, and then realized I should have been focusing on the new area instead. Got to a certain point before realizing I was just rushing it to reach the boss. Peak game design -- make players ignore the content and worldbuilding because they're too fixated on reaching a specific checkpoint at the end to spend their resin on.

The good news is you don't have to do much to get to the new boss, just the very first quest that unlocks the underground area and then you can walk right over from the entrance.

I gotta explore the new area along with a ton of Fontaine stuff still.

I just looked it up, and they don't do a very good job of communicating that. I thought this was another Enkanomiya situation. I could have fought it last night, but it didn't appear on the map for me and the marker from the events menu just directed me to doing the quest.

Yeah I think it might have shown up on the map for me after completing that first quest? I started going the wrong way at first, along the path that continues the questline, before I stared at the map a bit more and realized I had walked right past the staircase.

So is this Portable Power Saw worth anything on anyone? Dockhand I can at least give to Nilou. Not sure if its better than the umbrella or not. Definitely never touching another weapon banner though. Wasnt even much of anything worthwhile I pulled from it. Oh well though can always earn more primos

she's kind of bad with Furina unless your Furina is mega cracked, because Arlecchino can't receive healing from other characters so it's a lot harder to stack up Furina. not sure about charlotte.

in general I think she wants damage supports / buffers and a shielder if you're worried about dying

My Furina is C1 so I dunno if that applies as cracked or not. Ill probably try Arlecchino out with a bunch of characters to see how she does with them for fun once I finally get her built

My Furina is C0 so i'm certainly no expert but from what I've been reading online I think you want C2 Furina to overcome the anti-synergy with Arlecchino not healing so you can stack Furina fast enough.

But maybe it's not so much that they're bad together but that Furina is just so amazing for so many other characters that putting her with someone who has some anti-synergy with her is underwhelming

My personal reaction is that Arlecchino is not meant to be played with Furina. Lorewise, this checks out. A determined person can make it work, but it's better to assume they won't be on the same team. Given how many other characters want Furina, this is probably a good thing.

Yeah I plan on running her with XQ or Yelan (or both?) on one side and still have Furina for the other.

Honestly Furina is kinda cracked at C0 even if you don't max out the fanfare, I'm sure they'll work well enough together. The fanfare boost from C1 probably offsets the loss you get from missing Arle's healing, so you'll still be doing better than most.

I wanted Wrio too since hes cool, but now Ill have to pass til who knows when. More than likely gonna grab Clorinde and Sigewinne and then maybe well finally get some Natlan leaks?

What have you guys been using for Floor 12 of the current Abyss?

Yae/Kazuha/Fischl/Kirara for first half
Navia/Chiori/Furina/Charlotte for second half.

The only caveat is at the start of 12-2, I have to wait to get attacked by a fire onion, so then Kazuha can infuse fire and kill the electro onions.

I think my problem is I have a strong Team 1 and not a strong Team 2 yet still due to laziness, feeling overwhelmed trying to build characters and other stuff. My Furina/Noelle/Yelan/Navia team kills stuff fast, but I dont have anything like that for a second team still.

Neuvillette/supports I forget/Zhongli
Hu Tao/Jean/Furina/Yelan

Well swordz is not gonna play a husbando.

The Noelle team could probably use Chiori instead and then focus on a team on either Navia or Arlecchino.

Navia is so good on her own that I can do the second half of this abyss with just her and Bennett.

I'm sure I could have found a different first-half team that was all ladies if that's a requirement. That's just what I happened to use because of the chamber with all the spread-out enemies. Powerwasher hits everything decently well, even on controller.

Tried not using geo for the gravity boss, but didn't work out for me

He can. I just don't default to him unless I go "how do I hit these 6 annoying flying enemies that spawn in a circle around me?"

Im working on it. Its sad my B team can easily 9* Floor 11, but struggle to DPS fast enough for floor 12. Nahida/Diona/Xing/Yoimiya just not powerful enough floor 12 time limits.

Ill focus on Chiori artifacts so shes better than what she currently is and then try to slot Navia into a second team. Maybe Navia, Xing, Bennett and Diona for a shield or maybe someone else like Nahida

Yet completely and utterly normal. I feel like the divide between floors 11 and 12 has only increased with time. I used to consider floor 11 non-trivial, and now I give it about as much consideration as I do to 9 and 10, where I pick random benchwarmers to clear just to give them some time in the sun. It's not uncommon for me to use, say, Yanfei and Ningguang as the focal points on floor 11, and I have not hyperinvested into them.

Best advice I can give you, tbh, is focus on 33 star clears until you feel like you have enough depth to make a real, concerted effort. Or be prepared to go sweaty try-hard, restarting a ton and practicing, while maybe switching out exact composition to attack a single chamber at a time.

I think 32 stars was my personal best. Abyss is allegedly changing in 4.7 and with all the Fates I burned every primo matters now lol. Hearing the monsters needed for Arlecchinos weapon are insanely few in number so grinding her just sounds like its gonna take a while in general. Did manage to clear a few Fontaine world quests yesterday at least though.

Abyss changes with the first reset every patch. Abyss cycles end on the 1st and 16th of the month, so you've got almost a week.

I'd still feel good about having close to 400 fates, tbh. Even if you drop 150 on Clorinde, you'll have time before Natlan to recoup, and if you're as prone to saving as these numbers suggest, you'd still be set for any two characters down the road with awful luck.
