I am playing as San Francisco because that's the only place I've been to of the options. Beat Chicago and Minnesota. Cleveland next. It's okay while watching actual football on TV.

Clevemand and Miami down as well. Still terrible, way too much based.

Dear lord this game is dreadful. I couldn't figure out how the controls work at all. I'm still not sure how to pass the ball even though I won a game without it. Players just stop for no reason and the goalie seems to randomly decide not to catch the ball.

I played on level 3 and went up 2-0 in the first half before losing 4-3 because my goalie bet against us or something. The second attempt I again went up 2-0 in the first half, but this time won 3-0. Most of my goals were because the opposing goalie went the opposite direction for no apparent reason, or threw it right to my guy who shot it right back in.

Yeah, I have absolutely no desire to ever touch this again! Tecmo Bowl is at least kind of fun when it's not being annoying. This is just a janky mess that is still easy somehow in spite of it's terrible controls.

There is a pretty clear definition of when it's beaten.

I think I have only played it when watching football or Survivor though (a high school friend of mine is participating in the Danish version apparently) it's not fun enough otherwise. Soccer shouldn't take very long. Do you know what you will do next?

Good lord, did someone patch the 2023 Dolphins into this game? Every completed pass or run was like 40+ yards. I only managed to win cause I got a lot of sacks

edit: I'm using Minnesota because... idk Vikings are kind of cool I guess? The Cardinals aren't in the game unfortunately

My experience is that the run option is far worse than the pass options. Maybe they're higher risk, but the run option gives me like a yard or few at best I feel.

If the CPU is any indication though San Fran is just absolutely broken. I just lost to them where they scored 6 touchdowns on 8 passes and lost 40-35. God this game sucks lmao

Played a few more games, including getting my revenge on the Niners

San Francisco: 30-20

Third straight win scoring exactly 30. I managed to sack the QB enough times to stop their offense this time.

New York: 20-13

This was truly a tale of two halves, as I took a 20-0 lead into half time before getting blanked myself the rest of the way. My defense held up well enough to secure the win though. They CPU threw an incomplete pass, which I didn't even know was possible in this game

Chicago: 23-15

This was a defensive struggle as I threw like 4 picks and mostly kept them in check aside from some chunk plays. They also somehow have Devin Hester or something because their kick return game is ridiculous. In this game I started dropping my D-Lineman into coverage and got three interceptions, a strategy I plan to abuse moving forward. One of those picks was on the goal line, after which I gave up a safety.

Next is the League Championship and then the Tecmo Bowl, I presume. Washington and Cleveland remain

There is only one run option maybe that's the issue.

The incomplete pass thing seems entirely random to me.

I hope to finish this one up tonight.

knocking out Tennis isn't going to be as fast as I thought, but yeah the plan is to play Zelda after!

Golf at least should be more enjoyable. It created the golf swing mechanic games still use today!

Soccer completed. Pretty similar to Ice Hockey honestly, don't get how you would rank then do far apart, a bit less smooth but very similar mechanics. I once again win because goalie is the only player I know what I'm doing with. Wonder how they made the team selection. I was hoping I could be Argentina given the time. Germany and Italy also weren't there. Oh well.

Tennis I have no idea how to direct the ball. It also seems a bit random at times how you hit it. Kinda annoying when you get the ball in your head and referee Mario just yells IN.

lmao yeah this happens to me way too often

I won a game without ever entirely realizing how to actually direct the ball. I played level 3 and won 6-3, 6-4 after leading 5-0 in the second set. I initially hated the game, but once I got a little bit better. It was alright, at least when you consider the time. It doesn't get to rank very high though. Some of the games above it at least have promising aspects. Tennis does not.

I cannot play Tecmo Bowl that long at the time without getting drained, so I still haven't finished. Currently doing the California derby and I have two more teams after that, I currently forget which. Think one is New York. I probably will finish it before starting Zelda though.

Yeah it took a decent bit of practice. I also quit some games I thought I couldn't come back from only to get smashed again because I still weren't good enough. I think at some point the timing of hitting the ball just sat.

It's finally been done. It's a pretty horrible game. It tries to do more than they were capable of at the time I think. It's not very fun, but I think Baseball sucked more, only advantage of it being that I didn't play as many matches, but yeah.

I'm honestly not entirely sure. I got to a point where when I lost points it was almost always because I didn't hit the court and not because I didn't hit the ball and that was enough.

I guess I also still have one medal only in Pokemon TCG, so you're still ahead.

That's how I lose most of my points too, but I still haven't gotten close to winning

I finally managed a 6-3!

I started Zelda. Went around the overworld for quite a while before doing two dungeons.

I beat the game. Still an absolute gem as well, it's fantastic how well both the original Mario and Zelda holds up, and they have set some high standards. In Zelda, it's a ton of fun to wander around exploring, although the game is not very forgiving. There's definitely a somewhat intended order of dungeons but you can access some of the hardest ones immediately. Each dungeon comes with a hint to progress somewhere but other than that it's pretty easy to get stuck in something. It took me less time than expected getting through it.

I am not sure if it should be first, I considered it, but ultimately went against it. There's a solid hap from top 2 to the rest currently though, along with some other rather large gaps around there.

I just had a lot of fun with it. I also know it pretty well, so I didn't have to get good at it first as with several sports games.

Here are my considerations for next game:

Lost Levels - There is a lot of Mario or related in here, might as well get to the next one
Gradius - Somewhat early NES game of the first 20 and something non-Nintendo.
Metroid - Because I kinda felt like playing it.

I say if you feel like playing something, go for it!

Well you played Lolo and TCG so not that behind. I might have some time later today to play something but otherwise the next while isn't looking too good to fit much in anything, so you can probably catch up.

I did play some Gradius earlier, I'm not entirely sure what the requirement for "beating it" is. There's a certain point I kept dying at and have no idea how to get past though.

Gradius has seven stages.

I see, I might be stuck on this one for a bit. I also don't have that much time to play, maybe that allows MZero to catch up to me on NES games.

I feel similarly about a certain section of Gradius yesterday. At least that's how it seemed yesterday.
