It had a GOTY which is weird cause it has like 1 dlc and also i preferred the original case. And replicant is great yet not overrated. I also thought the ending was just ok. Its like they ran out of villains. Also unlocked ending E by accident trying to see 9S's ending. Hardest final boss of any JRPG, lol. ....anyyyywayyyys Really nice story. I liked it. Well worth the time to complete. From a practical standpoint the game loops feels kinda gimmicky since afaik there's no in-universe mechanism for time resetting, the second route is just a director's cut of the first, and the third is just...the next part of the story lol. Might have to play Replicant sometime just to see more of the story. >_> Replicant has the better story, although the game itself, even the remake, is a pretty major downgrade from automata in terms of gameplay. The levels are smaller, they don't change as much, the enemies are spongier, the weapon and move variety is weaker, the side quests are a lot more tedious, and the gimmick with the ending isn't quite as compelling. You're also required to do more to get the true ending. Replicant has an equally good soundtrack, equally good visuals, better characters, the side quests do have more meaningful stories associated with them, and completing the first route is more satisfying then route a in automata. Overall, as somebody who also started with automata, if you liked the story at all I would highly recommend playing replicant.
