Mastiff and Rottweiler. Even Doberman. I dont understand the controversy. Is it that these strong dogs don't normally attack, while pitbulls do? And what's the deal with bulldogs

Power isnt the core issue. Aggression and owners not being qualified to control them are the real issues.

The most aggressive breeds tend to be equal in size or larger than pitties. Choose, Shar Pei, Huskies, GSDs, Dalmatians, all breeds I'd be more wayy of than Pits.

If we were talking dog aggression that's a different story but pitties naturally have so little human aggression.

It's the combination of bite force, temperament and widespread presence that people worry about.

people on this board say the latter is a fake issue and prefer to just exterminate the breed
they never have an answer for what they'll do to the next breed they train to be aggressive on purpose

Yes. That's basically it. Those dogs don't attack as often. Rotts are #2 FWIW.

Pitbulls, pitbull mixes and similar looking dogs are just rather common. While other breeds are more dangerous, you are less likely to encounter one.

Plus whatever dog breed is currently considered the dangerous menace will have reports of its attacks spread more.

You are working with outdated information on Dalmatians. They developed a stigma when they were over bred when the movies came out. Most of the bad bloodlines associated with the over breeding died off a while ago.

They are ranked bottom 5 for bite risk in recent studies, and aren't listed as a top aggressive breed in any current study I've seen.

I've actually never even seen a dalmatian and considering how popular the movies were I'm surprised unless they're like super expensive to make.

yeah pitbulls aren't dangerous,it's not like there has been tons of people being attacked by them and getting mauled or killed by them surely not dangerous and the race definelty should be allowed to continue so we can get more people being attacked by them

I think there might be less of them now while pitbulls kind of became a breed to have. Problem is pitbulls are way more full of energy then a lot of people are aware of and can't handle it. That energy has to go somewhere.

Rottweilers are $1200 dogs, where Pitbulls can be found for a couple hundred bucks.
That's why there are more problems with pitbulls, it's the only dog breed you can buy new for $200

i had to walk them for an hour at least to burn off enough energy to make it happy (2-3 miles worth of walk) each day (weather permitting).

she really loved walks. slightly more than food.

You won't have to worry about pitbulls if you get a self-defence lion.
