Most of the friends I made starting from around adolescent age were of the opposite sex, primarily because of how insufferable I found most male peers to be around that time. I am asexual (didn't really know it had a name back then, but it was always the case for me) but I don't think that had anything to do with my gravitation toward the opposite sex for friends/company. ...
