He's like Jaffar if he was a Black American in the 1920s. Tatiana and Naveen are alright. She's a top five princess for looks and a respectable character for her hard work ethic. He's definitely one of the most relatable (pervy) Disney males. But, on the whole, they're kinda bland. And the talking animal friends are completely forgettable. The movie has a good premise that it doesn't do much with. It's not bad. It's just one that could have been better given more time and focus. It's kinda like Raya and the Last Dragon in that regard. ... Copied to Clipboard!

The Emperor's New Groove was a Prince and the Pauper adaptation for which the studio forced them to take out the Prince and the Pauper swap that made up the basis of the story. It's hard to imagine Disney making a movie about two people being turned into frogs and taking out the transformation into a frog. Would they have been better off to have had White protagonists and waited until the next movie to have a Black lead? I don't think turning him into a frog and having her carry him across New Orleans was ever on the table as an option. And, if it had been, it would have been kicking the can down the road because people would have complained that the first Black male love interest spent half of the movie as an animal. cjsdowg posted...
