Are Game Boy games the same "tier" of accessibility as NES/SNES games? When it comes to handheld Zeldas, I've only played LA and ALBW, and I've been wanting to experience the Oracle games for years.

Hmmm, was just about to start up the first AA trilogy but this is pretty tempting.

they're pretty much the same gameplay wise as LA.

If you mean ease of emulation, yes

If you don't, I have no idea what that question means

Sorry, I meant in terms of pricing (meaning $20 for a year of access instead of $50).

they're pretty much the same as LA (besides the rings and the animal buddy system, and the gimmicks for Seasons/Ages), just more of it and not quite as good/fresh. I think conceptually Seasons is intended to be a bit more "combat" focused and Ages a bit more "puzzle" focused but it's not a super huge difference in difficulty or complexity between the two or LA. Well, there's one super obnoxious minigame in Ages if you have a bad sense of rhythm/timing but I don't remember offhand if you have to do it to complete the game or if you just had to do it for a piece of heart..

Maybe I should replay Ages and see if I can beat what I think was the water dungeon. I got stuck in one room as a kid, and I even had the official guide, but all it said was "go to the next room". It was probably something really simple, but fuck if kid me could figure it out.

I don't remember this specific thing in Ages, but in the original Legend of Zelda there's a room with this message and the solution is to bomb one of the walls in that room. Which up to that point in the game was not something you did in any of those rooms with an old man.

People have been parroting this phrase for the past 20 years and it's really one of the most meaningless descriptions ever written.

I mean I definitely think there's a step up in complexity from LA, it's taking that structure and adding stuff on top of it (map gimmicks, for one, not to mention the link system). There's a lot of weird experiments like seeds and the animal buddies too, and these things are a lot more refined than Minish Cap's experiments imo.

Whether or not that's good or bad is up to you, but if you're high on LA you should enjoy the oracles. Personally I prefer them.

I think it's more correct to say Seasons is action focused as it's not just the fighting, but also it's the items that encourage more movement and platforming gameplay

While the items in Ages are more used for solving puzzles

Except it is true. Ages has its dungeon difficulty in the puzzles, with one of the first few dungeons barely having any monsters in it at all. Ages also has its overworld feel small because you're weaving back and forth in time throughout, plus a good portion of it is water and islands.

Seasons has enemy spam in some areas, such as the Temple of Seasons itself, and each swapped season brings a respawn for them.

Either way, they're both my favorite 2D Zelda games, period.

Please never play these unless it's on DS-series hardware. Even on there I can't recommend it.

Anyway, the real question is, did they add some kind of game link QoL feature or do you have to use passwords?

Before I forget to ask - is there at all a "preferred" game to play first if I'm intent on beating both?
