Superconductors outside of extreme lab conditions would allow current and electricity to be trasferred any distance without loss. You could place a nuclear plant in a completely safe remote location and wire ~100% of the power output to faraway cities. They would greatly expand the potential of all electronics since resistance in conductors is part of what creates heat and limits processing speed.

People are waiting for further replication on this study but the alleged mechanism is so simple and the names reputable enough that it'd be strange if it were just fraud. Basically if this were true and could be effectively manufactured and used at scale, it would be the technological discovery of the 21st century

Why does LK-99 exhibit superconductivity at room temperature and ambient pressure? This is because the stress generated by the Cu2+ replacement of Pb(2)2+ ion was not relieved due to the structural uniqueness of LK-99 and at the same time was appropriately transferred to the interface of the cylindrical column. In other words, the Pb(1) atoms in the cylindrical column interface of LK-99 occupy a structurally limited space. These atoms are entirely affected by the stress and strain generated by Cu2+ ions. Therefore, SQWs can be generated in the interface by an appropriate amount of distortion(57) at room temperature and ambient pressure without a relaxation. From this point of view, the stress due to volume contraction by temperature and pressure is relieved and disappeared in CuO- and Fe-based superconductor systems because the relaxation process cannot be limited due to the structural freedom. Therefore, they need an appropriate temperature or pressure to limit the structural freedom and to achieve the SQW generation.

I'll be interested to see if this can be replicated. I was just watching a documentary on YouTube about the US's proposed largest particle accelerator, and the subject of superconducting magnets and having to keep them close to absolute zero came up.

Even just proving superconductivity at ambient temperature and pressure is possible would be fucking huge

There's nothing to grift off of here. The compound cited in the study can be baked in days and people are already preparing replication attempts. If they were going to actually try to make money off this with idk paid speeches or a book or something, they would claim a convoluted difficult to manufacture and maintain compound to buy more time and then claim that The Man is trying to keep them down.

the grift is in bloating the CV's with "peer-reviewed" articles that they fabricate as well as grant money
