I'm that person but I try to direct my bad attitude toward those who deserve it and try to contrast that by being overly nice to those who deserve it.

This is very true it's way easier to teach someone how to do a specific job/task than it is to change their overall behavior. I'd rather work with a crappy employee with a good attitude that I can train vs. someone who's really great at their job but are an asshole.

That depends on the career and also the age of the employee.

Most older employees seem to honestly gripe about almost everything.

I always prefer people good at their job over bad, regardless of their personality.

Companies dont give a damn about your attitude as long as you can always do your job right. We are there to work not make friends.

Idc about their attitude. I've worked with legitimately awful human beings and been fine. I'm a results based kind of guy. I'll be comforted by the teams bragging rights and never have to stress about work problems.

In my current job I've had someone who was awful at work and had a bad attitude, and people with good attitudes that did the bare minimum.
I don't want to pick up after people, so I might pick the person who is competent but a bad attitude, unless they are straight up a bully.

Usually people with good attitudes are open to change and moldable though.

Good attitude but bad at job. That's a skill that can be learned with time and patience. Bad attitude is difficult to change and poison in the well.

If they're good at their job, I don't have to deal with them much regardless of attitude.

I'm kind of an example of the first choice. I can be sarcastic, grumpy, and downright bitchy at times at work, but I have been doing it over 20 years and I am easily the best in the department and everything I get done makes the jobs of people in other departments easier too.
