Probably spam attacks. Seems like half of the bosses can just stun lock you straight to hell.

I picked bullet sponge. Nearly every other thing on that list could still be fun if it is part of a well paced fight, and things like unskippable cutscenes are only a problem if you're expected to die a whole lot. Only bullet sponge bosses can turn otherwise fun gameplay into a tedious slog and ruin the fight on the very first try.

I do hate most of these things. One hit kills are garbage design unless they're well telegraphed and have an obvious solution (and not some obscure item or skill that your entire build might be incompatible with). Having tons of adds turns fights into games of luck as you just gotta hope that they don't all synchronize or space out their actions in a way that fucks you over no matter what. I voted status/DoT though cuz that includes stun, paralysis, silence, and blindness. Having sudden restrictions on your own actions feels bad man. And if it's an action game, you get to sit around and wait when you just wanna play a fuckin game.

That annoying random alternate attack that is difficult to predict or evade, does a ton of damage, and takes forever for the animation to complete so youre just sitting there yelling mashing buttons until you can move again.

Picked the first option. It instantly reminded me of Arkham Asylum's final boss which was an incredibly awful way to end an amazing game.

They managed to find a way to make Joker a physical threat to Batman, center the entire game's plot around it and end it with you fighting the same mooks you've been fighting all game combined with the same boss fight you've done multiple times.

'Boss has multiple phases'

If anything, this topic makes me want to give the designers of 'Pathfinder: Kingmaker' props for the Stag Lord boss fight. He has none of the aggravating tropes listed in the poll.

My poll choice is based on the very last boss encounter in Kingmaker, which is exactly that selection.

Boss can recover health

Yeah I fucking loathe this one. Not only is my work being undone, now I have the fact that I have to kill it quickly to not turn the fight into a slog in the back of my mind

Voted for bullet sponge.

But the adds are also a "great" choice. Especially if they are just stupid filler who are not even supposed to be a threat... so, adds being bullet sponges.

Definitely the unskippable cutscenes. Nothing else even comes close.

Not always in my experience. Triangle strategy has some bosses that chill out and send their army forth first and then charge in themselves a few turns later and it works pretty well
