I think it'll be fun, but also probably not hit with audiences as much. Raimi's Spider-Man movies have always been super hammy and pure fun, which I love them for, but in the age of the MCU, I'm not sure that's what a comic book movie is expected to be.

Part of Spider-man's characterization is his wit and his quippiness, which Garflield's struck truest to. Garfield is also a really good actor, and his on-screen chemistry with Stone was more convincing than Maguire's with Dunst.

They're not good movies, in all honesty. I don't like them, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. But he's good in them despite the crap script and bad directing he's working with. And Gwen's death scene is worth YouTubing.

Im more excited for Garfield/Maguire Spider-Men than Tom Hollands. The only reason I watched No Way Home was for the nostalgia factor lol.

Garfield was the best thing about No Way Home.

His films are dogshit, but he has definitely proved what a great choice he was for the role when given decent material.

That would be nice I skipped all the MCU spiderman films.

I agree that his chemistry with Emma Stone was good. But that's partly in comparison to Kristin Dunst, which I never really believed her Tobey. Overall he seems like a nice person, but not a great Peter Parker. I wouldn't be sad if we didn't see his version of the character again. To me Tobey Maguire is still the definitive version.

Tbh why can't Sony just make Spider-man 4, an MCU Spider-man 4 and Amazing Spider-man 3 at this point?

It would be fucking better than Morbius, Kraven, Silver Sable etc.

Make a live action Spider-Gwen as well.

I dont think people had a big problem with his acting as far as Spider-Man the superhero.

I think the issue was with his take on Peter Parkers personality not being endearing.

This right here is my single favorite scene from TASM duology. None of the Spiderman movies really honed in on what a big nerd he really is. The closest we got was Holland talking about science and Maguire doing well in School. This right here just screams "Peter Parker" to me and I love it.

Which is, ironically, one of those things that only hardcore Spider-Man fans would appreciate anyway. Issue 1 Peter Parker was a little bit of a dick, and explicitly wished he could get revenge on his bullies. The whole point of the Uncle Ben death scene was to teach him that famous lesson. But since the vast majority of people know Peter Parker from more modern incarnations, I think they were really taken aback by one that was more like his original self.

But, as for the topic at hand, you can absolutely do an older Peter Parker. There was a comic just recently that was a single volume retelling of Spider-Man's biggest moments compressed into a single lifetime (Spider-Man: life story) and it was actually neat to see him balancing his responsibilities against getting older while also trying to raise a family.

TASM just felt like a movie primarily ran by executives instead of making an actual good movie.

Another origin story wasn't necessary for Spider-man. Then both movies saw the beginning of this 'We really want to make a Sinister Six cinematic universe' crap from Sony and a bunch of dumb teases (many of which got deleted) that were more focused on hyping up future movies instead of making what we got right now exciting.

Honestly I wouldn't want to trash Holland and everyone who put in slave work in the MCU movies

But I would be so down for a pure Raimi movie as it was intended to be, because even 3 just aged well with time. As a kid, Spider-Man in the early 2000s with the prequel SW trilogy, the Matrix , LotR, etc...that was a time to be alive.
