I enjoyed it, I only know a little about DnD but I enjoyed it.

It was way better than I expected.

Yes it was. Not sure if people consider it "unoriginal" or not even though it's not a sequel or Marvel, since it's dungeons and dragons.

I read that a complaint was like how quipy the movie was but like it sounds like 99% of any DnD session (the 1% is the ones who have no fun)

Dang, it is on Paramount+? Going to get that soon for the new Big Brother season so I can watch it then.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised

I said this when it came out, "It perfectly captures the essence of a party of murderhobos who accidentally stumble backwards into the DM's planned story"

watched it with a friend to make fun of it, then i realized it was actually good.

I normally get annoyed at Marvel humor but this time it felt more organic because it did feel like friends role playing. It's very clever for how it does this. Would have been been much easier to play things straight.

I think this will honestly end up a cult classic. I can see kids liking it when they find it.

I also liked that this was one movie. They could have easily drug it out to a trilogy or something. Instead it moves fast like an 80s movie

It is good. The grave yard scene and illusion spell scene was hilarious.

The graveyard scene was also 100% something a DM would do

-Best portrayal of a genuine Paladin in film history so far. I knew exactly what he was going to do and how he was going to do it, and the film didn't disappoint.

-Chris Pine should've been Nathan Drake in an Uncharted movie instead of Spider-Boy. He's basically Forgotten Realms Nathan Drake in this film.

-I recognized a ton of moves (lay on hands, stealth backstab)

-It was cool to have a female Tiefling who also showed off how badass a Druid can be. Kind of like a cross between Annah and Jaheira, without their attitudes though.

-I nerded out seeing Elminster on the big screen (or at least, a vision of him). Since his descendent is present, I wonder if Drizzt will have a descendent show up in the sequel.

-Speaking of Drizzt, I was kind of hoping to see some Drow in the Underdark sequence, but it was still a good sequence.

One of the best game-licensed films ever made. I am eager for a sequel.

Chris Pine's decision to use the MacGuffin the way he did was pretty predictable/telegraphed, but satisfying.

It did well with presenting the source material without overly explaining things for those not familiar with it without losing the spirit of the source material.

The only people I've seen who didn't like it honestly seem to be the people who take DnD way too fuckin seriously.

One DM I know went on and on about how mediocre it is. That same DM is also 100% mechanics focused, delights in how often player characters die at his table, and leaves basically no room for roleplaying.

Loved it. I'd love to see more movies in different canon settings, especially Spelljammer and Ravenloft.

It is actually frustrating because I think with him as Drake it would have been way more successful

It was fun. I appreciated the meta-ness of the paladin being a perfect, OP DM-insert/NPC. I do wish the backstory - Pine's wife being the motivation to steal the McGuffin - would have been BS... a deception check to excuse the party's murderhoboing.

I loved it. One of the best movies Ive seen this year. Ive rewatched it 5 times already.
