I gave the tl:dw. It is a guy who spends most his money on Yu-Gi-Oh Cards. If you don't know about the channel it is people who are bad with their finances and got into debt over certain purchases.

yo, though, just about every collectible card except ygo. i got out of that one after the first reprint set had exodia pieces at common.

yes, that seems like me, but not quite. i spend way too much of my money on collectible gaming and sports cards, but not yu-gi-oh! anymore. i collected that one, too, early on, but after a couple years, upper deck released a set where all the cards were reprints of older cards. one group of those cards were four of the five Exodia cards, which had up until that point been so rare as to only show up once in every several boxes of cards, and thus were very expensive. but as commons, the new versions would show up several times in every box. this would have a deleterious effect on the value of the originals, and convinced me that keeping cards over long periods of time would almost certainly result in extreme loss of equity. i immediately sold the entire collection, and have not returned in the time since.

and yeah, YGO is terrible for long term value. Really the only TCG that holds any value is MtG, the rest you basically just have them hold for a brief period that a card is new + meta (sans Pokemon, where it's more based on popularity).

a lot of the better dead ccgs are way up over the last 5ish years.

True though with them being dead they are purely collectable and not games. Yes you can play then if you know people, but they are basically baseball cards otherwise. Look at the FF TCG for a "live" version of the same deal.

i built up a sizable playgroup of l5r and wow at my small city flgs. it's doable, with the right people.

Still, the point is that I am only talking about live games and not dead ones. Things completely out of print work on different paradigms, just look at Hero Quest for an example of that.
