I've never seen a libertarian who wants government out of peoples private lives, they just want to get rid of taxes.

I want the government to stay out of peoples personal lives, lower taxes is definitely a good thing but that's just one part of it.

Do you view lower taxes as an 'inherent' good, or simply a desirable good? Are there not examples of countries with much higher tax rates than the USA, and with better standards of living? Is there not the example of the USA having a far higher tax rate on higher income earners in the 50s and there being a generally (but still present) smaller wealth gap?

The US government is trash so limiting their power is good. Theoretically higher taxes could be better if they were actually used for things that benefitted people but it mostly goes into politicians pockets or their friends. I think the common man in the US, in general but not always, would use that money better than the government. Why have my taxes gone up with nothing to show for it? And what's with all these stupid laws that have nothing to do with people's rights? These are problems with both big parties, they don't give a shit about the people and only care about their own power and money. Democrats claim to be champions of minorities and acceptance while not actually giving a shit about minorities and just give everyone this song and dance while the Republicans claim to be the champions of freedom and the constitution but don't give 2 shits about any of that and push a regressive Christian agenda. So it's not that I think lower taxes are inherently good as much as limiting the us governments power is inherently good. But then again I don't think you can have a "good" government for long, they all eventually get corrupt and turn to shit regardless of type of government so it's best to limit it before it gets to that point.

It's pretty much human nature, people start with a good cause, they get support, they get power, for a while they rule fairly (regardless of type of government), they get more power and more corrupt, and eventually turn into totalitarian state before imploding on their own bs.

There are young people unfit for office as well. I dont think age is the problem with Biden and Trump.

Thanks for the clarification. If the US government is inherently trash, I think it's probably better to try to remedy that as opposed to just going 'hands off'. I get your disillusionment with that, of course. That still gives those folks the freedom to monopolize. But I still appreciate the response.

It depends if you equate Biden to really just being like an odd, socially deaf grandpa, or if you think there's actual sexual malice behind his more odd past actions. Even then, mentioning both together lends a nefarious "same things, both sides" credence, which is passively dangerous. A clear distinction needs to be made, always.

All these people voting for Joe just because he's not Trump (and vise versa) when they don't actually like him shouldn't complain about the 2 party system. You are the ones propping up the 2 party system. Vote 3rd party if you don't like either candidate.

FPTP voting means a 2 party system is inevitable, no matter what a voter does. Support Ranked Choice if you'd like to see change. It would also help if the American 3rd parties weren't wholesale-crazy.

Also, not that I want to give *any* sort of Libertarian any serious thought, but it should be noted that taxes, not only as a whole, but even specifically for the non-wealthy, are the lowest/among the lowest in US history...and this hasn't stopped the US government from being "trash" or playing corrupt politics. It's actually caused more problems, since we just print money instead of trying to be more responsible with it/take in more money. In all reality, taxes should be higher across the board (but especially for the rich). There's a lot of common sense ways to solve the money-corruption problem (but hard to implement) that don't include kneecapping America's finances in the meantime.
