Natasha also wasn't a fan of him faking his death in Winter Soldier. The Avengers are also gutted from the loss of Tony, Steve, Natasha, Thor doing his thing, and Spiderman though nobody remembers him. Rhodey is also MIA. I guess he thinks that if whoever is left of the Avengers found out about this, it would just be a major problem for future conflicts. Because if his Cull Obsidian powers were always active then Fury's bullet wouldn't have hurt him and a Skrull with a sledge hammer would have just been shrugged off. This isn't terribly different than Kl'rt. Who needs to "turn on" his Thing powers. In theory they could have made him the obvious recipient of the Harvest instead of introducing G'iah. Nothing against her specifically, but Talos was already an established presence in the MCU, and him becoming a Super-Skrull would have felt more earned than this character we just met. It's not like it would have even been a problem if Ben Mendelsohn decided he wanted to retire from the role. That seems like what'd actually happen. That was definitely the best scene in the episode. Plus a failed coup is just going to deepen Gravik's paranoia / self-righteousness that much more.
