It's about time. We really should have been at this point a year ago, but Merrick Garland stopped the DoJ from investigating Trump's role in January 6th for a long time.

I believe so. Jack Smith has been investigating January 6th in parallel with the classified documents. The better question here, imo, is how many people got target letters. Possibilities:

• John Eastman
• Jeffrey Clark
• Fake electors from multiple states

So we've got confirmation that Giuliani is a target in Georgia, but not for January 6th just yet. Rudy Giuliani recently met with prosecutors in this case during a two-day proffer session, from what I've read. So it's possible that Rudy Giuliani is trying to flip to save himself.

It's a letter that tells someone that they're a target of a criminal investigation. It's basically saying the recipient will be indicted as a result of the investigation.

Running and ultimately winning the presidency in 2016 was the worst decision of his life. A totally unforced error for a billionaire who only had to ride off into the sunset as a 70 year old.

i still believe he never intended to win. the campaign was meant to be a way to steal a bunch of money from idiots, but it got away from him and his ego wouldn't ever let him back down. edit: or, maybe more likely, he ran with it to keep getting his ego sucked.

He should have just kept flirting with the idea of running like he had been for decades. He could even continue to brag that he'd smoke the competition if he ever decided to run.

In Georgia, I believe about 8 of the 16 flipped, from what I read. Others may be targets.

When a crime is investigated, and you're involved somehow, you're one of three things:

• Person of interest = witnesses or other people that have evidentiary knowledge of the crime
• Subject = you are under investigation for your role in the commission of the crime
• Target = you are identified as someone for whom criminal charges are appropriate

Once charges are filed you become a suspect.

maybe i'm wrong about this, but of all the people involved in this, the actual fake electors themselves are the ones i'm most willing to forgive. they seem to be dupes to me, it's the people who convinced them to go along that i want to see fry. maybe don't let them off completely, but if anyone here deserves a slap on the wrist, it'd be them. especially those who were honest about the scheme with the investigators.

Chauvin was handled fairly quickly. The only initial resistance came from the police union.
