Maybe, but dumb shit isn't acting new. Planking challenge where people would just plank in random, sometimes borderline suicidal places predates TikTok by like a decade or more. Then there was shit like the FluffyBunny thing that made people choke to death. It all escalates as time goes on. If it wasn't this it'd just be something else.

They have their own app called Douyin ().
China blocks international websites and apps like Twitter, Facebook or YouTube. And they replaced with chinese only alternatives like Weibo, WeChat or Youku.
