The story is fine in both I felt. Not great, but not bad. The music in one is absolutely stellar imo.

They both felt more about fun combat and different ways to complete said combat to me.

Can start with either really. They arent follow one's with the same protagonist.

I had a lot more fun with 2 personally. I still enjoyed the first one, but to me it was a 7/10 game, and I dont know if I wouldve continued to the second game if I didnt play D:OS2 first. Do note that 2 has a controversial physical/magic system that youre better off building a party that focuses on one type of damage -otherwise everything basically has an extra health bar.

I couldn't force myself to get very far in 1. Whereas 2 was a masterpiece.

Nah, you can get away with mixed.

Archer has enough tools to attack with magic or physical, dagger has the ability to attack with physical and magic as well, every melee fighter can put on poison for their weapons and still do chip damage on magic resistant enemies. And there's Sparkstriker for magical damage as well if things are poison resistant too! In some cases, I prefer 2/2 because it means that you can attack enemies that have a ton of magic armor with physical, and vice versa. There's also cool schools like Necro that attack physical magic but use int... You just have to be a bit more careful with mixed teams.

I will say in Enhanced Edition, magic generally is a bit stronger overall since they changed multipliers, but physical still does better single target damage generally.

Both 1 and 2 for original sin are good games. 2 is easier to pick up and play, but 1 has a system that is more customizable overall. I kinda like 1 more because there aren't so many teleportation moves that make movement a pointless stat.
