First played: Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
First beat: Final Fantasy 6

It was quite an experience to finally beat 6 as a kid, because I never thought I'd actually finish a game that (relatively) lengthy and complex. Hell, even making it off of the Floating Continent felt like a tremendous milestone.

Thats the same as me. My uncle had DW1 & FF1. I only knew how to walk around and get in fights - I was too young to comprehend the actual plot, or read the text. And Im 99% certain that I played DW1 first.

If Legend of Zelda for NES counts, then that.

Otherwise its Pokemon Red. Interestingly enough both are the only entries from either franchise that Ive completed.

I can't remember if the first one I ever played was Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, or Final Fantasy 7, but the first one I ever beat was definitely Super Mario RPG.

Final Fantasy was my first RPG and first one I beat back on the NES. I remember not knowing what I was doing at first being new to that type of battle system. Also, I kept dying at the beginning of the game because I didn't know you're supposed to go into town to buy equipment immediately and didn't know how to use potions.
