(Or legend of zelda 1 if it counts) The first I ever beat was this other jrpg made by a company called culture brain called the magic of scheherazade. This game was pretty amazing for it's time. (I technically beat the adventure of link before any jrpg, but like zelda 1 I'm not sure if it counts lol) https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/2/8/9/AARkkPAADhqB.jpg This game had a mix of legend of zelda 1 style overhead platforming action and dragon warrior/final fantasy style random rpg battles. It had all this cool for the NES stuff like hiring mercenaries to fight for you, changing your class at the college (originally a mosque but this was censored via the localization), bargaining at the store for cheaper prices (did it too much you got banned from the store, lol), gambling at the casino, and even had optional party members where most of them helped you out in someway. (One optional party members lets you see in the dark, another lets you walk through lava, another could translate a language for you, another will help you find your way in world 2's desert maze etc. That kind of stuff). I was completely hooked on this game and I credit it for getting me addicted to the rpg genre in general. I beat the second rpg this same company maid called little ninja brothers also.
