What if you retook the SAT right now?

My brain is fried compared to the last time I took the SAT. Plus, adult life never uses any of that stuff, so it has long been forgotten now. Teenagers spent all those hours cramming for that exam, only for none of it to have practical applications in real life. I know that many colleges are doing away with the SAT for precisely that reason, but what if you took it again today? Have you gained newfound wisdom since then that would help you score higher, or is all that information long dormant and you would score lower?

Easily lower. I haven't done any sort of academic studies since I dropped out of college 18 years ago.

i read that like the chinese and south korean college entrance exams are way more hardcore, like it takes over 10 hours to complete the test, for each of them. And for both of those tests much more importance is placed on them than on the american ones

I didn't take them so I can't imagine I would do worse.

I took the ACT instead of the SAT. I think I could do a bit better.

For everybody saying lower: do you feel that your wisdom gained since then would help or hinder you?

Wisdom is realizing that GPA and SAT scores don't matter if you're too poor for university anyway.

Considering how the SAT is more about eliminating choices than actually thinking through every question, I'd probably do worse.

I was going to say higher since it was out of 1600 when I took it, and now its 2400, but apparently they changed it back to 1600.

I'd need a few weeks to study, especially with the math and writing section but I'd hope higher

I know how to study cheat after taking all the MCSE exams. Guarantee I could get up to 1500 if I had a week to cram.

Cold. Probably lose a 150 points. Wouldnt even realize what Id forgotten until I needed it.

If I took it today, I'd probably do worse on math and writing but about the same on reading. Some math things I definitely don't remember, and I haven't had to write a full on essay in years, but with some time to prep I could probably do at least as well.

Probably higher. I took them when the top score was only 1600. Didn't it go higher now?

So, I'd probably do much better nowadays

Cold, I'd probably do same or slightly worse. But if I could do a few practice tests to get back into it, I'd sure score higher, due to greater self-discipline and ability to focus.

If you took them prior to 1995, your chances of scoring higher now are greater because they revised the scoring system in 1995 to make it easier to score higher.

I'd score lower by default, because I scored a 2230 and you can't do that now that they've removed the writing section.

But discounting that, it would probably still be a bit lower. I've forgotten some of the math since then, and that section was the only one I really lost points in, so there really aren't points to make up with knowledge gained anywhere else.

Definitely lower. I'd probably be about the same on reading and science but I don't remember any of the math stuff beyond very basic algebra.

Let's all please just get along.
