Willing to give it a chance but I feel like reworking the combat misses the point

I don't necessarily mind changing plots/dialogue but it does tell me that whatever the game's "vibe" is, it probably won't be the Lynchian shit going on in 2, which would be pretty disappointing. One reason it's good is because it's intentionally bizarre/weird/uncomfortable and trying to radically change this is probably gonna fall flat

To be fair, SE expanding and adding new elements in one of their games, as much as people may not like it, it's their property so they reserve the right to do that if they wish.

Silent hill is physically there it just messes with each person individually. Wed both experience different things based on our guilts and fears but were are physically in the town of silent hill being mentally fucked with.

The town exists and takes advantage of the people who drift into it by manifesting their fears. How much this can personally injure people who roll into the town is pretty ambiguous, and the fears/visions are unique to different people, but the town is "there." There's a few scenes/moments where the visions tend to intersect, even. The most common ones tend to be James seeing a few of Angela's monsters/fears.

I mean right there it's clear that Laura, Angela and Eddie aren't in James' head. They're real. It's also never implied that what James is experiencing is a hallucination. The "rules" of the town are never explained and they're intentionally left vague so acting like there are definitive explanations for any of it does a disservice to the game.

What we can figure out through what we experience is pretty much this. The town attracts people with trauma and guilt. When they're there, they experience different versions of their own ""hell"" with monsters influenced by their own twisted thoughts and memories. This is a direct play on the original Silent Hill where all the monsters you come across are manifested from the mind of Alessa Gillespie. Very much not in anyone's head.

We know Laura doesn't experience any of the dangers or monsters that James does because she's "innocent" and doesn't have any traumatic guilt she's being punished for. But that doesn't mean it's "all in James' head". If that were the case why does James come across the Abstract Daddy boss? That's a direct manifestation from the mind of Angela about her abusive father. That room is also very much related to her and not James' subconscious. Eddie's also very much not in James' head and after killing him, James experiences the weight of killing another human being. James also gets a glimpse at Angela's version of Silent Hill as a world on fire, driving home that it's different experiences, but if it were just in James' head, how could he be stumbling upon what's going on in other people's heads?

So it's not simple psychosis or hallucinations. There's clearly a lot going on in the town that's supernatural. So while James' mind is responsible for painting his version of how he sees things, it's really not just going on in his head.

This is why I ended up hating the Capcom remakes of resident evil. 2 was good but everything after it simply crapped on the base game, replaced things with inferior set pieces (if at all) and just made things unnecessarily bleak/edgy. If this studio is planning on doing the same to silent hill I already know I'm not buying it.

I liked the RE3 remake. It was fun.

Honestly, Im open to give it a chance. No need to replay the same exact with just better graphics. Bloober is capable of making good games. A lot of their games are just barely missing that borderline to becoming great games while some are great. The medium needed some combat and it would be a damn good game

RE3Make suffered from the deadline imposed on the development team by higher ups at Capcom last I checked, so Im a bit more forgiving in regards to its problems since RE2Make and RE4Make shows that this kinda reimagining can work given the correct choice of team tasked with making it a reality.
